Motorcycle Number Coding

MMDA said that there is an increase of motorcycle traveled in Metro Manila alone. Aside from these MMDA has done a motorcycle line to protect the motorist from cars and trucks. Since my truck driver has a motorcycle, I asked him if there is a number coding for motorcycle. He said there is none. I suggest that there should be a number coding for motorcycles. Like number coding for cars, number coding for motorcycles should also follow the number coding for cars. Motorcycles have four numbers in there plate number, for example MN8381. 1 and 2 will be coding for Monday, while 3 and 4 will be coding for Tuesday, and so on. Aside from these there should also be a grace window period for coding motorcycles, like 10am to 3pm. The following are the advantages of having a motorcycle coding: (1) motorcycle will be lessen on traffic hours, and (2) lesser accident for motor riders. The disadvantages of having a motorcycle coding are (1) motorist will complaint at first, and (2) more expenses for the motor riders.      3

Umbrella Vending Machine

The weather changes quickly here in the Philippines. Even though it is sunny in the morning there might be rain in the afternoon. When I forget my umbrella and it suddenly starts raining heavy I would really like to get hold of an umbrella as soon as possible.  That's how I came up with an Umbrella vending machine. There are vending machines for sodas, coffees and snacks, so why not have a vending machine for umbrellas? When it is raining it is really hard to get hold of a taxi and if you forgot your umbrella you will get very wet. In such situations the willingness to pay for an umbrella rises, regardless of how many you have stocked up back home. With a dispenser you simply put your money in the machine and out comes an umbrella ready to use. The dispenser does not take up much space and can be placed all over the city, especially in crowded places. Easy access would be crucial for this product. And the price could be a bit higher than in the supermarkets as the willingness to pay is also higher.

To aggregate extra income one can sell commercials or logo prints on the umbrellas or on the dispenser/vendor machine. I had a look on Google an the concept is already in use. It was first invented by a british guy named Charles Ejogo in 2007. But I did not find any information about vending machines in the Philippines, neither have I seen any at the streets. The design would look similar to the picture on the right 3

Tawa Tawa Plant, A Cure for DENGUE? During the rainy season, we all witness an increase in the cases of Dengue. A simple fever can actually turn out to be your worst nightmare because of its early symptoms is very similar to ordinary fever we all experience once in awhile. Recently, a couple of my friends were rushed in the hospital diagnosed with dengue, some had it twice already,  ofcouse hearing stories left and right can only make you worry and panic every time you experience a sudden increase in your body temperature.  I can't help but to be scared  but reading the book of Genesis that states that every cure can be found with the plants around you, I remember a family friend recommending "tawa-tawa" plant something he recently learned when his son had dengue "twice". Spending too much in hospital bills because of it and going through it twice was difficult so a Doctor recommended this plant to him and have tried to increase his son's platelets. Good thing it worked! Imagine, spending thousands in the hospital and getting the cure from your backyard can be so amazing! It can save a life and save your pocket as well. True enough!  according to the article I've read, The government's medical researchers have embarked on a new study to determine if there is science in the claims that the plant called "tawa-tawa" has therapeutic properties.             Many Filipinos say tawa-tawa (Euphorbia hirta) is a cure for dengue and tuberculosis. Some doctors frequently interviewed on popular health programs on radio have noted the curative effects of tawa-tawa, but none has categorically said that the plant indeed has medicinal value. There are several vending machines placed in malls, schools and offices that offer different products. Basic necessities for females like tissues and sanitary pads; junk foods, soft drinks as well as coffee and chocolate drinks are also available in some schools and offices. But there is one product that I actually think could be considered to be available in vending machines, and that is milk tea.

Today, more and more people, from kids to senior citizens, are being captivated by the delightful taste of milk tea. Probably, because most of us believe that tea is a healthier drink than coffee and soft drinks. Basically, milk tea is not difficult to prepare because its ingredients are readily available in the supermarket, namely, black tea, sugar, milk, tapioca, water and ice.

The vending machine would practically be similar to the one that serve coffee, but it will be serving hot and cold beverages. The price would probably range from Php40 to Php50, more or less half price lower than the ones sold in the shops in the mall. Size of cup would be 16oz, one size only. There will be a dispenser for the black tea, milk, water and ice. These ingredients will be served in standard amount. There will also be a dispenser for the "sinkers". Sinkers can be modified, the customer can choose tapioca, nata de coco, or grass jelly. The amount of sugar would vary depending on the customer's preference of sweetness. A sweetness meter just like in the coffee vending machines can be used. Straws and cups would be released by the vending machine first, followed by the milk tea. If the customer wants a hot plain black tea, it would also be available in a lesser price, at least Php20. 3.0

What pisses you off in the office?

Communication barriers

Our office is a bit spread out., some work from Sweden, some Norway, and some Portugal and now I am in the Philippines. The thing that bothers me the most is by far our communication problems. There are several both verbal and non verbal. Its starts by the formulations of our goals, I honestly don't think anyone knows what our goal is except increase profits. Secondly our responsibilities are also unclear, people are working but no one really knows who is in charge of what. E-mail might get sent around in a circle before it actually gets answered.

I think there should be spent more time defining the company goals, and breaking them down in milestones. Clearer goals makes sure people are working with the right things at the right time, it would improve the efficiency at work. As all the employees in La Point is fairly individual and in charge of themselves this is extremely important. I would suggest a special program made for business activities, this program would be accessible online so that everyone can use it where ever and when ever they want. The program would in short:

-       List all activities both planned, finished and under work activities

-       Participants of each activity,

-       A list/overview of all employees and their responsibilities

-       Due date for the activities

-       If the activity is done in time or not

-       If the activity is done within its budget

There would be a "dashboard" showing the short-term goals, timeframes and responsibilities. The dashboard will be in both verbal and non-verbal forms. For instance there would be if a task is completed within its time limits or budget it will be showing a green light, if some activities are late according to the initial time limit but can still make the final due to date for the project then there would be a yellow indicator and if it is not feasible, cancelled or exceeds the final time limit there will be a red Indication. This way everyone can easily see what tasks have been done, what tasks are under work, what tasks are on time and which are not, who is working with what and what tasks are planned to be done. I think this would give a better overview and improve coordination among the employees as well as ease possible frustrations and misunderstandings at the work place.  3
