3 Floating Solar Islands to be built in Switzerland lake this year
Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship
"New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."
From Wired Co UK | by Olivia Solon | February 27, 2013
Two Swiss companies have teamed up to build 3 rotating solar islands, each with 100 solar panels each at Lake Neuchatel this year. Each panel measures 25 meters in diameter and built by Nolaris and Viteos. The technology to be used is CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) where the power will be used to heat up boilers to generate steam and drive turbine...
This will be completed by August of 2013
The entrepreneur behind this is Swiss researcher Thomas Hinderling who prototyped the project in UAE when he was with CSEM. He thought that he could generate several hundred megawatts using several of this islands. In 2010, Hinderling left CSEM to start Nolaris where he was able to attract 70 million euros in funding
