NU12 by Cathleen Jem Caraig - Shoes with detachable high heels

NU12 – Week 10
Shoes with Detachable High Heels
I am one of the girls who love the idea of wearing high heels. However, wearing high heels to work or schools may look attractive but it is a difficult task. I don't know how my classmates, co-workers and friends can wear high heels every day. I, on the other hand, wear high heels on special occasions only. This is because I don't like having calluses and blisters. If I wear high heels to work or school, I need to at least bring with me flat shoes or slippers to wear to and from work/school especially when I'm taking the bus.

What I have in mind to solve every girl's problem is shoes with detachable heels. These shoes can be stylish like pumps, stilettos, platform shoes and the like. The heels are attached at the sole of the shoe and can be detached by a lock in it. The detachable lock and sole is made of a durable material like a Vibram that even water or heat cannot destroy the shoe. So the next time that you have an unexpected walkathon, you just have to remove those heels and walk blissfully with your stylish flat shoes.

These detachable heels can be a girl's best friend. With these detachable heels, there's no more reason to have calluses and blisters. No more reason to be out of style. 4

Nu12 - by Cathleen Jem Caraign - Windshield/Rear Window Sign

NU12 – Week 8
Windshield/Rear Window Sign
Don't you just hate it when you're driving in SLEX or other expressways where 60kph is the minimum speed and 100kph is the max yet there are still drivers who can't comply with these rules? Have you had an experience when you're driving at the "fast lane" then suddenly a car overtakes you with not over 70kph speed? Sometimes ignorant people or those who doesn't know a thing or two about the use of a fast lane and a slow lane can be annoying.
My solution: A windshield/rear window sign made of LED lights. The lights need not be too bright but bright enough to be read by other drivers, may they be in front of your car or at the back. Installed in the car is a button wherein you can push different messages you want others to receive. For example, if you're following a car at the fast lane but its speed is around 60-70kph and all the honking and high-beaming does no effect with the driver, you can push a button which will light a sign stating "Move Over". Or when there's traffic in the area and the driver of the car from behind "forgot" to dim its high-beamed headlights, you can push another button which will light a sign from the rear window stating "Your Headlights are Blinding Me."
This product is another solution of those who are impatiently waiting for others to get the clue. Also, it lessens noise pollution since you're not honking throughout your ride. It may also lessen the risk of hypertension for short tempered drivers. Hence, lessening road rages.  4

NU12 - Week 12 - by Cathleen Jem Caraig 3d glasses for viewers with eyeglasses

NU12 – Week 12
3D Glasses for movie goers with eyeglasses

I know people with eyeglasses who love watching movies in movie theatres. Since some movies are now shown in 3D, I sympathize with those who can't enjoy these films because they have to wear 3D glasses apart from their eyeglasses. Some eyeglasses don't fit the 3D glasses so the viewer has to remove his eyeglasses in order to use the 3D glasses properly.

To solve this problem, I have an idea of 3D glasses that comes with 'grades' so the viewer can use the 3D glasses without his/her eyeglasses. Another idea is to create 3D glasses that can be attached to the viewers' eyeglasses. This way, the viewer can enjoy the movie without having any trouble or difficulties with the glasses. 4

NU12 by Cathleen Jem Caraig - remote control cushion

Hi Sir, resending my NU12 Week 7...

NU12 – Week 7
Remote Control Cushions or Silicone Case
One of the most irritating yet inevitable problems in the household is accidentally dropping the television's remote control. A remote control's life should be as long as the television. However, due to the carelessness of the users, it breaks faster. Buying another remote, like a universal remote control or ordering another remote similar to the one that is broken, is costly. Using a plastic cover or a Styrofoam to prevent breaking the remote control is no use at all. Not to mention that it does not look good in the first place.

My solution is a remote control sleeves/cushion or a remote control silicone case. These products are not yet available in the market so I thought this might make a good product for everyone especially those who love watching TV.

A remote control cushion can be made of cotton fibers like the ones used in pillows or blankets. The cushion is of a size of the remote where the remote can be placed inside to keep it safe from accidental falls. The remote control sleeves can have a similar material but it comes with a pocket wherein the codes of the universal remote control (if the customer is using a universal remote control) can be placed. This is to avoid losing the codes that comes with the universal remote control for future use.

Lastly, a remote control silicone case. The material that can be used for this product is a silicone. The silicone case is popularly used with cellphone cases and the Wii remote. The product is durable and will have different sizes to cater all remote controls.
The next time you'll drop a remote control, you'll never have to worry about breakage again. These products will save them. 4

NU 12 by Cathleen Jem Caraig - What pisses you off at the mall?

NU12 – Week 9
What pisses you off at the mall?

Sometimes, I don't have a whole day to go to the mall and shop for the clothes, accessories and shoes that I really want. Big malls especially those malls which are linked with another mall are the hardest to figure out. Most of the time, I get lost looking for the stores I'm looking for and I end up in the same spot where I first came. That is both exhausting and time consuming. Also, if ever I'm lucky to find the items I'm looking for, they're out of stock most of the time or the only piece available is the one on display.

Since I am almost always online, I suggest that these malls produce an app for smart phones or a website which shows where the stores are located through a map. It is more helpful if there is a virtual tour of the mall available in the app or website. Also, it would be a good invention if they provide pictures of items from each store that can be searched through that app (or website). It would also be helpful if I can upload a picture of clothes, accessories or shoes that I would like to search in the mall and that app/website can suggest pictures of clothes, accessories or shoes similar to what I'm looking for. The app will also provide what stores the suggested pictures can be found. Also, I would suggest that stores can update their stocks in that app/website giving the customers a heads up if their items are on sale, almost gone (last piece items) or new arrivals. 3
Thank you sir!

Nu12 - by CJC - New Spending Habits

NU 12 – Week 5
NEW SPENDING HABITS / ROUTINE
Being a full time student, I have no income generating activities. It is a hard task managing what is left from my former work's savings. How do I survive? Fortunately, my mother gives me an amount of cash to survive a day at school. That's the only income I'm getting ever since I resigned from my work. On the other hand, I haven't been productive in the past two years. I have always been at home watching the television, reading a book or surfing the internet. Unhealthy, isn't it? How do I break this chain? How do I manage the little money I have in my wallet?    <be engaged in  a sideline)

1. Set Long Term Goals
Since I'm in my 20s, I should be able to distinguish my long term goals already. Setting goals with their appropriate dates to make sure I can accomplish everything in time. Deadlines will be helpful since these will motivate me to meet my long term goals. But how do I do these things if I still don't know what I want to do with my life? Before everything else, I should know what I enjoy doing and where I'm really good at.

2. Stop/Control Impulsive Shopping
If setting my long term goals isn't enough, I should make a list of what matters the most at the moment. One thing I really love to do is shopping. But since I have no income nowadays, I should know that this activity should not be my priority. Instead, if I organize my closet habitually I know I can find a lot of clothes that still fits me and I wouldn't need to shop for clothes until whenever.

3. Budget my allowance
Since I only get allowance depending on how many days I go to school, it's really difficult to save money. However, if I can think of other ways so that I can minimize my expenses like bringing "baon" or choosing meals/snacks that are budget friendly then I can save a bit from my allowance.

4. Use Credit Card for REAL Emergencies – not when I see cute shoes or books or clothes
When I was in college, my mom gave me an extension of her credit card for emergency use but there are times when I can't help but swipe that card when I go inside a bookstore or a boutique. This must be hard to do but I really need to start over and use the CC for its real purpose.

5. Stop Checking Facebook for awhile. Or limit checking of Facebook into 2 hours per day.
Limiting the use of Facebook and other social networking sites does not affect my budgeting. However, these social networking sites have been the means of being unproductive and/or procrastination. By limiting myself to use these will motivate me to go out and see what's outside the four corners of my house. These activities outside may also help me form an idea of a business or something that will keep me productive.

6. Read More Books
I am a fan of books, preferably fiction, but lately I've been having a hard time finishing a book. I've so many unread books at home and because I am in tight budget I should keep myself from buying a new book until I finished all my pending books at home. By reading these books, I can also get a business idea out of them.     <many free e books are available..  I saved a bundle by subscribing to free ebooks>

7. Monitor / Create an Inventory of my things
One of the ways to get organized is to monitor my own things. I used to have an inventory of my books written in a yellow pad but didn't continue. So to help myself by monitoring my own things, why not create an inventory? Using the MS Excel, I can monitor my books, clothes, accessories, etc. to know how many I have and/or who borrowed my things so I'll know where to find them when I need them. This is also a good practice for the future. 3.5

NU12 by Jem Caraig - What Pisses you off at AGSB cafeteria

Good Day Sir,

Sending you my NU12 - Week 2 assignment.

Thank you!
Jem

What pisses me off at AGSB? What must be done?

During enrolment we are obliged to pay a certain amount for other fees such as library energy fee, materials, student activities fee and other miscellaneous fees. I have no complaint with these fees because the facilities provided by the school are great and helpful. However, when a student enters the cafeteria to have a snack before class or during breaks there's not enough food to choose from. That does not piss me off.

The thing that pisses me off is when I'm trying to work on my assignments or prepare reports in the cafeteria, where I can also have a snack, and is need of a power source to plug my laptop only to find out that I have to pay before I can use a plug. I understand that this is just to prevent students from hanging out in the cafeteria for too long and other students have no place to eat on.  However, do students who need a plug have the right to use the school cafeteria's power outlets?

I recommend that the school provide free access of the cafeteria's outlets to enrolled students of AGSB as well as Law School students. If the school is concerned with students overstaying in the cafeteria because of this recommendation, then I suggest they put a limited free access of the power outlets. By this, students are only allowed to use power outlet to limited hours only. If the school is concerned with the costs that will be acquired with the power, which I assume will only cost a small amount, then let it be within the other fees of the students upon enrolment. 3

NU 12: Product Improvement by Jem Caraig

Cathleen Jem Caraig
ENTREP – NU12
New Products / Product Improvements
Milk Tea: The Next Level
Since milk tea is a trend nowadays, I was thinking of other ways to enhance the product. As I've noticed from most milk tea products, they don't have food to compliment the drinks. Also, I have been an avid fan of cupcakes lately so I had an idea of combining the two things I currently love and creating a new product or improve since they're both already in the market.

The idea of combining both sweet products into one business venture will be difficult to introduce to the market. However, creating new flavours of milk teas and cupcakes would make them more interesting. Since milk teas originated from Taiwan, why not create delicious cupcakes from Taiwan's famous flavours?

Fa Gao cupcakes is one of the famous Taiwanese cupcakes made from rice flour, yeast and sweetener and baked until it puffs like that of a "putok" bread famous here in the Philippines. Fa Gao means "prosperity cake" in Chinese and it is popularly used during the new year.

Fa Gao cupcakes would definitely bring a boost to the famous milk teas here in the country. I think combining the two products would create a competitive advantage against other milk tea providers. (Why I think, just a seminal idea;  not yet tested?)   3
