NU 12 - New products / product improvements Happy Jello!

by Nurse Deedee

Having an office inside a mall, you tend to notice all the new stalls, businesses and small kiosks that sell almost everything. From sweet nibbles like specialized chocolates, cup cakes, brownies to local delicacies. There are also kiosks of different refreshments, from your favorite juices, Ice scramble that makes you reminisce child hood memories, and of course the latest trends like buko shake in a bottle and bubble teas.
Well here's a new fad that I want to see happen,  kiosk for  JELLO SHOTS. You know, those sweet, cutely shaped jellos loaded with alcohol. It's not something new, but so far I have not seen anyone capitalizing on its potential. Yes, I'm sure there's a good bar somewhere selling these, but why can't liquor stores sell these too?  In 2011, there was a guy from Boston who saw its potential and started a catering business making Jell-O shots and it that seems his business is doing great.
With the SIN TAX being effective this year, this might be a good way to get some much needed buzz after a long day without cashing out a huge amount to buy a whole bottle of Alcohol. It's simple, it's fun, and it's something that is not yet in the market. 4

NU12: NU 12 -Online Shopping –The Virtual You by Nurse Deedee

NU12: Online Shopping –The Virtual You
                                                                                                                by Nurse Deedee

One of the biggest problems when you go on-line to shop for clothes is the fitting. Even when you buy a shirt in the mall, you pick what you think your size is only to realize after fitting that you are now a Large and not a medium or maybe the medium fits better than the large ( Ha! Lucky you ). A helpful tool that online shoppers can appreciate is a virtual mannequin that will adjust based on what your vital statistics.

Imagine this:  you go on-line to your favorite shop, you pick the shirt/dress that you want to buy, and then you go to a link that brings you to a mannequin page where you can enter your vital statistics. The mannequin then adjusts based on the information that you enter. Once your personal mannequin is ready, you can drag your chosen product and it'll fit it for you. You'll be able to see how the clothing will fit you based on your own measurements. It'll be easy to see if the fit will look good on you or if you need to change sizes prior to buying. 4

Advantage for the Customers:  Much more accurate fitting. A more satisfying shopping experience.
Advantage for the seller:  Increase in profit. Less returns on products.

NU12: # l GenericTransport Card

Last July 06, Mabuhay Taxi Company from the city of Davao introduced 20 taxis that will accept ATM and Debit card payments. In the near future credit card payments will also be accepted.  This sounds like a good idea especially if the goal is to provide convenience to their patrons and safety to their drivers. If this turns out good, I am hoping that cabs here in the metro will adapt this mode of payment as well.

A much better idea would be for us to have a generic transportation card that can be used for payment on all modes of transportation similar to the octopus card from Hongkong or Singapore's EZ link card.  Wouldn't it be nice if you can transfer from riding the MRT to the LRT without rummaging your bag to get the correct card? (Have you ever tried to ride to the south end of the MRT line and then transfer to the LRT line in Pasay station only to realize that you don't have the LRT card and you would have fall in a mile long line just to get the LRT card? – It's a horrible experience especially during the holiday rush! )  To get off the MRT/LRT to a bus without opening your wallet to get the fare?  Yes, using an ATM/Debit card is pretty convenient, but not all people who ride the PUJs, busses and trains have them.  However, a transport card which can be bought, loaded or reloaded from your "suking tindahan" would be much more convenient and safer. You wouldn't have to poke around your bag looking for your wallet to get some spare change for your fare and since buses and taxis and PUJs will not be carrying cash, this also lessens the risk for them.4
