NU Idea by Cristina Krastle Valderas - Fire Alarm in every Building
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
Fire Alarm Installation
Huge fires cause the loss of many houses, business and even lives. This can be prevented or the effect can be minimized if it was reported immediately to fire stations and help was given.
Last week at the Malolos Public Market in Bulacan, people, vendors and some stores are panicking because there was an electrical failure in one of the big supermarket in the area. It took sometime before someone called the fire station and report what was happening. It started at the 3rd floor of the building where their stocks and inventories were placed. If the fire was not put down immediately, it can include even the nearby stores which will be a much bigger loss.
To avoid such cases, a fire alarm can be installed in each house, school and establishment. This will be connected to fire stations. Once there is a fire, instead of waiting for someone to report what was happening, the person who owns the building will just pull the lever which will immediately send an alarm to the station, indicating the exact address of the incident. The installation of such device should be mandatory and a requirement of the municipality as part of their fire prevention program. This device should also be protected from kids playing with it, that it should be sealed or covered but can be removed easily by adults. 4
Thank you.

NU Idea by Cristina Krastle Valderas -Alcohol Consumption Counter in Cars and MC
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
Alcohol Consumption Counter
One of the leading causes of death in the Philippines is vehicular accident. It can be caused by over speeding, road defects, fault of the driver, over loading and I think the most common is driving under the influence of alcohol.
Driving under the influence of alcohol can be prevented by having an alcohol consumption counter attached into the steering wheel. In the Philippines, a person is allowed to drive with up to 0.05 Blood Alcohol Concentration or approximately 2 standard drinks. Instead of blood, it will be measured with the use of sweat at the palm of the driver. If it determined that the person consumed more than the allowable consumption, the steering wheel will not work.
It will also be applicable to motorcycles, as we also have an increasing numbers of accidents involving it. The alcohol counter will be placed in the motorcycle grips. 4
Thank you.

NU 12 CKV - Blood: Available Online
Cristina Krastle Valderas
NU IdeasBlood: Available On-lineMy mom just had her operation last week in which she will need 2 bag of blood as a reserve before the procedure. We had a problem because the hospitals and Red Cross in our province doesn't have the type of blood we need. We even contacted the nearby towns but same result. There are people who are willing to donate unfortunately it will take much more time because the blood that will be donated has to undergo different tests before it can be used. Fortunately, we discovered a relative who has a position in Red Cross and helped us out.I think it will be very helpful if the Red Cross will have an online facility in which it will show the different blood available for each center or branches. The blood inventory should be real time. The patient will still have to pick up the blood wherever it is available but at least it will minimize the hassle, time and effort looking around where it is available especially during emergency cases. (RC must be awaiting your donation for such a facility. 3.5)
CKV NU12 - What pisses you off in the office?
Cristina Krastle ValderasNU ideaWhat pisses you off in the office? (Process Improvement)I am working in an insurance company which has several branches and Customer Service Centres. In our building, we currently have 1 Customer Centre that caters to 7 branches. Each branch has at least 50 Financial Advisors and the biggest of them have almost 300. The Customer Centre is like a bank that receives payment for premiums, new business applications and assists walk-in clients who would like to transact involving their policies.During normal days, we have a fast turn around time or flow of advisors and clients transacting in the centres. But as I observed, most financial advisors always submits their new business applications during the last minute. That is during the closing period of the contests which were being done quarterly. Customer Centres would close down and finish the last transaction at almost midnight. Advisors and secretaries will wait in line for hours waiting to be served. A cause of the problem is when secretary A comes in with only 2 applications, for example at 10am and secretary B would come in at 11am having 15 applications. Instead of following the last person in the line, she will just leave her applications to secretary A to avoid the waiting. Then another secretary she also knows will do the same. It will leave the next person in line wait much longer.Another problem is the scanning of these new business applications the next day. With the big number of applications submitted, having only a scanner, it is impossible to finish it with just a day.The possible solution can be:1. Like what we have in some banks, there is a counter serving for those who have single transactions only. And 2 or 3 counters will serve to those who have multiple transactions.2. For those who have multiple transactions, when they enter the Customer Centre, aside from the number that will be given to them, the guard should also indicate how many applications they have on hand. With this, we can prevent what we call "singit" in lines.3. We can also add a scanner and a tempo staff to do the additional scanning of new business applications. 3.5
