NU Ideas no.9 by Cristina Krastle Valderas - Tent with built in mattress
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
Tent with built-in mattress
Tents are becoming popular nowadays. Before, you would commonly see tents being used by hikers or campers. You would only see few of them by the beach. But now, during peak season, instead of renting a room or checking in a hotel or resort, most people will just bring and stay in their own tent.
But the problem with tent is that it you have to bring a comforter, a sleeping bag or a thin mattress just to have a much comfortable sleep otherwise it's just like sleeping in a sand or floor with just a thin blanket underneath. It will be much better if tent makers can make that part of the tent much thicker in a way that when you lie down, you will not be experiencing back aches afterwards. But at the same time, the weight should be light as travelers will only bring it like backpacks and still be water proof as not to absorb water during rainy season. 3.5

NU Ideas no. 10 by Cristina Krastle Valderas - car collision sensor
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
Car Sensor to prevent collision
As we have noticed, most vehicles, commonly private vehicles have a sensor which is being used when the car is in reverse or about to park. If the back of the car is already near a wall, another car or gutter, it will create a long beep sound.
This sensor can also be used to avoid collision accidents. When it is about to collide or have an accident with at least a foot distance, instead of the long beep or alarm, the car will automatically stop. But with the sudden break, passengers of the car can also be affected. Along with the implementation of the sensor, car manufacturers should also place seat belts for passengers seated at the back and not just those at the front seat. There should also be strict implementation of the seat belt law. Through this, it will create a much safer trip. 3

NU Idea no. 11 by Cristina Krastle Valderas - elevator at the Ayala underpass
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
Elevetor in Ayala Avenue, Underpass
I can say Ayala Avenue in Makati is very strict when it comes to its loading and unloading area and people can only cross the street using the underpass located in every intersection and blocks.
This policy is good as it can lessen the traffic in the area as it is a business district. But this is not friendly for is those who are disabled. While I was waiting in the loading area to go home from the office, I noticed a man who is having a difficulty to walk approached the traffic enforcer. He needs to go the other side of the road and cannot use the underpass because of his injury. He asked the enforcer about the pedestrian lane which only opens at 7pm. He needs to wait for 7pm just to cross the street and be able to go home.
It will be much helpful if Ayala Administration can have a small elevator located in all underpasses to address the needs of the disabled and elderly. Just like what we have in all MRT stations. It will be expensive but as we all know, not all people going and working to Ayala have their own car or can afford to ride a taxi all the time. 4
Thank you.

NU 12 by Cristina Krastle Valderas - Garbage Separator
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
Garbage Separator for Easy Recycling Process
Waste problem is one of the major and alarming problems in the Philippines. Our growing population comes with the increase in garbage disposal problem. Inspite of the solid waste management act passed by the government, there are only small improvements because it is not strictly implemented in all city or towns. After 10 years or so, our existing dump site can no longer accommodate the garbage we dispose everyday that we have to look for additional site. It will not be impossible if the time will come that an entire city can become a dump site.
A possible solution can be is to have a garbage separator. It will become more useful in the dump site because the wastes are not segregated. The garbage separator will be as big as a dump truck in which it has several tubes attached on the sides. Each tube will be assigned for plastic, paper, wood, metal, textiles, non recyclable waste, etc. After you put the garbage inside the truck, by identifying its chemical composition, it will go to its assigned tube. Once wastes are segregated, people can already start the necessary procedure or process to recycle the materials like paper or glass bottles. It will make things easier and immediate action can be done for waste that can still be useful. At the same time, we can help the Mother Earth. 3.5

NU Idea by Cristina Krastle Valderas - Bar Code ID system at AGSB
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
AGSB ID system
Identification card or most commonly know as ID, is being used to contain the personal information of a person and importantly, part of security precaution of a building, establishment, school and offices.
In Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB), students are required to wear their ID at all times when inside the school premises. Security guards are inspecting each student if they are wearing an ID upon entering the school. As long as they see that you have an ID around your neck or clipped in your chest, you can get inside the building without any problem. But if we observed, they are not really checking if what you are wearing is an AGSB ID. They will not also know if you are enrolled or not for that trimester or school year. So there is no proper identification on the person entering the school premises. On this case, there is a possibility that an intruder can get inside the school.
As part of prevention and security, AGSB can use the entrance facility we are using inside the library. To enter the building, the student or faculty will need to tap his/her ID on the device. With the help of the barcode, it will identify the person. After validating, that is the only time it will slide open. For the alumni, they can apply for an ID which will have the barcode for them to enter the premises. But for visitors or student not enrolled for the school year or trimester, they have to present a valid identification at the security, who will give them access/entry.
Thank you.3

NU Idea by Cristina Krastle Valderas Hot and Cold Battery Powered Tumbler
Hi Sir,
NU Idea
Water Tumbler - Hot/Cold
Water tumblers are becoming popular nowadays not just for travelers but almost for everybody. It is very convenient to bring anywhere with its colorful and customized designs. For travelers, they can be assured of a safe drink and can be refill by any beverage they want. In the office, you don't have to worry about spilling liquids to your paper, gadget or other things on your table because it is tightly sealed. It can also keep the drink temperature much longer than the usual. For example, if you put hot beverage, your drink will still be warm after 15 minutes or so, compared of putting it in a mug. Same if you put a cold beverage.
But for very busy people, they sometimes forget that they have a hot coffee or juice waiting to be finished. Because of that, we can add a feature which will be a combination of a water heater and a water dispenser. There will be a switch located on the side of the tumbler that you just have to slide if you want your drink to become hot or cold. If you want it hot, like in a water heater, it has a small metal inside to boil the water. For cold, just like how it does in a water dispenser. The only difference is it is battery operated so you don't need to look for an electric outlet just to use the feature. It will also be more useful for travelers or those who go hiking; they can easily have hot or cold water anytime they want. 4
Thank you.
