NU12 #3 - What pisses you off at the neighborhood? What do you suggest?

What pisses me off are the tricycle drivers that are really rude on the road. I was driving on our way home, when I got bumped by a speeding-drunk tricycle driver. He was coming so fast he didn't have time to step on the brake, and he hit me. What pissed me off was that the bumper of the car fell due to the impact, and my youngest passenger - at that time was only 4 - had a huge bump in his forehead. Tricycle drivers in our area often drive with invalid license or no license at all. What is worse is that most of them are drunk.<they should be jailed>

I suggest that there should be an ordinance strictly implemented about this issue. <Lack of enforcement.  There is an existing LTO law>This is not just for me but also for the safety of other people. The ordinance should state that police will do random check points at strategic locations, but it should be a surprise one. Or they can do it at the terminals to ensure that all drivers will be checked.

The local government should be vigilant about this because there are too many accidents that involved tricycle drivers in our area.3

NU12 #10 - New Attitude/paradigm

Hi Sir,

I can't find my NU12 #10 so I'm resending a different one.

The decision that I take my MBA did not came from me. It was a suggestion by my mom who really wanted me to take law school (until now she's pushing me to take it). Like in college when they pushed/planned the course I am to take, they kinda did the same with my MBA. Initially, it was just a "favor" i am doing for my parents but there was no hesitation because I really want a business course. My dream was to become involve in businesses, and like what I said in my factor paper, I really want to become a business tycoon - the first female in Asia.

In 2009, MBA to me was to just pass my time and have a different environment. I was not serious with school. I careless about my grades and how my professor perceive me. Things happened in the family that I have to stop for 5 terms, and when I got back school became different. I was struck with the question of my professor about taking MBA. I thought what do i want to gain from school? What can Ateneo contribute to me as a person? More than the friends i made and I will be making, what else do I expect every term?

There were too many questions that I wanted to be answered. And focusing with my studies changed my habit and perception about MBA. This is not just a fad, a "yabang" moment but it is my future at stake. And so, starting last term, I became more serious with the events happening to me, my attitude towards MBA changed for the better.

NU12 # 9 What pisses me off at the mall? What do you suggest? book finder

I visited the mall recently, trying to find a book I need. This idea is specifically for bookstores.

As I was trying to find the books I need, I almost lost my patience because I can't find them under the category where it was supposed to be. This was not a one-time experience, too many times it took me one hour just to find one book. With all the errands I have to finish in a day, I can't spare an hour just to find one book.

I suggest that bookstores should invest on an online book finder, indicating how many copies are left, and what shelf they are placed or which branch has that copy. This maybe an additional expense but it can greatly help customers. As much as the sales people want to help, some are not really familiar with the books; hence, it can create confusion, and too much effort both for the sales person and customer. The book finder, can help reduce the time in finding a book 3. <power books has>

San Pedro, Laguna is a strategic location because we are the first barangay in Laguna after leaving NCR. San Pedro is not a city yet, hence, there are more people moving here because of their work.

Just in our area alone, there are 4 stores that sells brand new and second-hand motorcycles. Motorcycles have increasingly became a means of transportation to many. And just like cars, there are some owners who want their motorcycles setup with loud speakers, mufflers < it is against the LTO law>, etc. Initially, there is nothing wrong with it but as the numbers of owners increased it has become nuisance in our area.

In our street alone, there are more than 10 motorcycles owners, some families owns 2 to 4. With its loud noise and constant passing by, I can say that it creates noise pollution already.

I suggest that the home owner association or even the barangay to limit the noise by regulating the shops that do the setup. People should be mindful of other people. 3 <it is a matter of law enforcement.  Startling and loud devices are prohibited in motor vehicles.>

I recently bought sanitary napkins and because I didn't used the entire pack I have to put the pack to another bag to keep it closed/sealed. I think companies that produce such products should change their packaging. The packs should be resealable and each piece inside should be completely sealed. They are called "sanitary" for the purpose they should be clean before using. 3

NU12 #5 by Athens Cruz Sentrep - tracking device for eyeglass string

I am wearing glasses, and it has been a staple in my fashion or style. There are advantages and disadvantages wearing them. But one major disadvantage is if you are a forgetful person. Often times, my eyeglasses went missing and i waste too much time and effort looking for them.

I am sure that this is not just my experience. Because of this dilemma some people used eyeglass string or necklace so we can hang the glasses around our neck. Unfortunately this necklace are typical for older women, and most men are hesitant to buy it. Still, even with this ingenious string/necklace once the glasses went missing it will go missing together with the string/necklace.

And so I propose that there will be a device we can clip on to the glasses so that we can hear and see the location once missing. The device will be connected to an application in our smart phones. So in a click or touch or swipe in our phones, we can send a signal to the device clipped on to our eye glasses so it can emit sounds and light signals. This is the easiest way to find them. 3,5
