NU#12 New Business Idea by Arlen Buan-Gerona

New Business Idea: Laundry Shop Café
 Arlene-Buan-Gerona
If there are a café bars inside bookstores, and cafés in carwash shops—then why not combine coffee and laundry! Laundry Café shop will make cleaning clothes more fun. Laundry shops are sprouting all over the metro because there is indeed a market for laundry services. Customers would include those who live in condos, students, young professionals. But the disadvantage of the laundry shop services we have out there is that you don't get to retrieve your clothes right away, and there is a minimum quantity usually 3 kilos to avail of service. Also, sometimes you run the risk of having delicate clothes being damaged. A self-service laundry will address all these concerns. And to ease the boredom while doing the laundry, Café Laundry Shop is ideal! J
A cozy lounge will have washing machines, washing detergents for self-service use. Meanwhile, a café bar will offer a wide selection of coffee and snacks. While waiting for the washing to be competed, customers can enjoy free wifi, surf the net, do business work, read books while enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of cake J 3.5

NU#10- Improvements at AGSB by AGB

Improvements at AGSB

What pisses me off at AGSB? I got an answer to this question last week! For the first time, I got pissed off with the existing policies on the school ID. I was not able to bring my ID in school last time because I left at home, and it was disappointing that a student has to pay 200 bucks for an entry pass. I offered to show a proof that I am indeed a registered student, I showed my enrolment receipt, but the guard insisted that I have to pay 200 pesos for a temporary ID, and yet to my surprise, no available receipt or any temporary ID was issued to me. In short, it was like paying 200 pesos as entrance fee. I hope that school admin would soon find reasonable ways in dealing with such concern. I suggest that the school should implement an electronic ID system, like a finger print scanner ID system, this would be nice because it provides a real identification, this is the most convenient and precise way of checking registered students.
Also, the following are the things that I hope the AGSB admin will improve on:
1.   Canteen: There is a limited selection of food being offered, and I find it quite pricey for its quality. I suggest that they come up wide array of selection; there are students willing to pay for more, provided they serve like a gourmet food, while others would go for budget meals. It would also be nice if they have the place air conditioned. J
2.   I notice that there is only one ATM Machine, I suggest for additional ATM Machines. I remember, there was a time that I had to go out to withdraw because the only ATM machine was off line.
3.   It would also be nice if the school would allow a more flexible payment terms like instalments for tuition fees to accommodate those students who are struggling financially. Also, additional bank cards must be accepted.
4.   It would also be nice if there will be a covered walk or a footbridge connecting AGSB to the mall. This will provide convenience especially during rainy days and the car is parked in the mall. Most of the time, students would prefer to park in the mall especially if they anticipate a late stay in school because the AGSB parking is only until 10pm, I hope the school in the meantime, can extend up to 12 midnight to accommodate such cases.
5.   The car registration fee is only good for 1 sticker per car. I suggest that they issue 2 stickers per student who paid for the car registration, to accommodate a spare car during coding. It would be even best if they offer free parking services for registered students! 3 <AGSB admin taken note

Nu12 Improvement in the office by Arlene Buan-Gerona

Improvements in the Office

My husband's business is a service company, and as such, quality on customer service is very crucial. The following are the observations I have and suggestions are listed down:
1.   Front liners are tasked to answer all queries by phones or from walk-in clients. They would usually take lunch break at 12 noon to 1pm, Clients who are late for the lunch cut-off time will have to wait for another 1 hour. Main clientele are sea fearers who usually come from far provinces and every minute of their trip must be maximised as they have lots of activities to do in processing employment application.
Suggestion: There are 4 people assigned in the front desk, I suggest that the 2 front liners take their lunch break at around 11:30- 12:30 noon, while the other 2 take their break at 12:30 to 1:30 pm. This schedule would ensure continuous transactions, accommodating all clients without wasting time.
2.   Some of the employees especially the young parents would bring their kids with them at work, causing some amount of destruction at work.
Suggestion: Part of increasing employees' morale is by taking care of the     welfare of their families as well. The employer must provide a working environment conducive to parenting, and must extend consideration and understanding in cases where a new mother has to bring her little one because of reasonable circumstances. I suggest that every company, especially the capable ones would have a nursery room that will accommodate kids. The nursery room will be equipped with toys and learning materials, and other facilities that children need for a comfortable stay. It is also a must to provide a nursing room for moms advocating breast feeding.
Having these facilities, will bring peace of mind to working parents and consequently, will improve efficiency at work.
3.   Lastly, I noticed that a lot of time is being wasted because of some employees using social media sites like Facebook while at work. I suggest that such social media sites be blocked during entire working hours (8 am to 5 pm). This will significantly improve efficiency at work. <blocked entirely;   if you have social media in business outsource it)
