NU12 #1 by AC
For several months, I often hear about criminal activities involving taxis or vans. And at times, I am scared to ride because of those news. I also encountered taxi drivers that are rude, wreck less drivers, unfair meters, etc. and it's really hard especially for female to ride alone inside the taxi.
So here's my idea, a special taxi. These taxis will pick you up from point A and transport you to point B. It will take you one call, one text or one email. Passengers will need to register so their information related to the transaction will be recorded, this is to secure that both the passenger/s and driver are safe during their travel time. Passengers will be secured because if something bad happen to them the driver is recorded. Furthermore, the drivers will also be secured from passengers who will attempt to harm the driver.
What makes the service special is that they are not allowed to pick passengers anywhere else until they have a directive to pick one. All taxis will come from a hub in each city for easier transportation. The taxis will also have a GPS to track them and drivers can make a decision on their route to avoid traffic. They can also accept payments via debit/credit cards.
Because it is a special taxi, passengers will pay premium price. (In Cebu this is practiced)3

NU12 by Andrew Chua – #3 Kitchen CCTV for Restaurant Customers
NU12 by Andrew Chua – #3 Kitchen TV for Restaurant Customers
Aside from food and service, cleanliness is one of the key success factors of restaurants. We know that most restaurant owners are taking extra steps in ensuring cleanliness in their stores; such as regular cleaning of the different areas, using different towel colors to clean different areas, using hairnets, using facemasks, etc. But even thought how clean the stores are, we know that they can't take away from the minds of the customers the possibility of food contamination. To ensure complete monitoring of food cleanliness for the customers; I think restaurants should have CCTV's especially in their kitchens, with a TV in the dining hall for customers to see. The effects to the following will be:
For crews:
· - They will no longer pickup and serve food accidentally dropped on the floor.
· - They will no longer intentionally dirty the food of the customers they are angry with.
For Customers:
· - They will be ensured the kitchen is clean, and without pests.
· - They will be able to appreciate the preparation of their clean food.
- They will be able to freely complain to the store manager without the fear of getting their food intentionally contaminated.
For Owners:
· - They will enjoy more profits since customers will be happier with the stores' cleanliness.
· - They will be able to receive more feedbacks that will help them improve their business.
Aside from cleanliness, other benefits like security and compliance to other policies will be gained from installation of CCTV's. And lastly, the kitchen TV is more practical than converting their kitchen to open kitchens. 4

NU 6 PAPER – PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT
Submission No. 6
ENTREPRENEURSHIP by Mr. Jorge Saguinsin

Most of the time, in the Philippines, a pregnant couple would give birth in any of the following places: at home, lying-in centers or clinics, or hospitals. The home is where pregnant couple would give birth with the assistance of a midwife (licensed or not); the lying-in center or clinic is where others give birth with the assistance of a licensed midwife, occasionally an OB-Gyne; and the hospital (tertiary to primary type), is where still others (with more affordability) may give birth with the assistance of an OB-Gyne with facilities for complicated labor and birth.
A birthing center is a middle ground between home and the hospital. Unlike the hospital which may have the right equipment and facilities and able medical staff but also a very clinical, and hospital atmosphere in which the patient feels within the control of that environment, the birthing center would have its labor rooms infused with the coziness of a home or a hotel ambience, featuring homestyle furnishing (home quality beddings and bed sheets, a sofa, a rocking chair, homestyle cabinetry instead of hospital equipment such as beds, gurneys, metal side tables and stools and cold cabinets). Majority of Filipinos give birth in their own homes with much less, in fact. Moreover, unlike the home setting, the birthing center would have the necessary standby equipment, medical staff and specialists for normal and complicated labor and delivery.
Thus, a birthing center would have the elements of both hospital and home:

The last element, the philosophy which provides the essence for the birthing center allows the pregnant couple to be pro-active in managing their labor and delivery with strong support for non-medicated pain relief, for vaginal birth (versus cesaerean delivery), avoiding episiotomy or a tear when you give birth and therefore also avoiding stitches in the perineum. All this will result in a very involved and more wonderful birth experience.
The way this birth center is staffed equipped provides adequate resources so even high medical management cases of labor and delivery can be accommodated. The couple could then look forward to an environment that strongly encourage and champion natural childbirth and breastfeeding with the sense of security and peace of mind that the right staff and facility are also on standby in case it becomes necessary. After all, childbirth is a happy occasion. Medical care is provided not so much as to treat an illness or condition but rather simply, precautionary in nature. Where too, if nature were allowed to take its own course, no medical intervention becomes necessary at all.
The time for the mother and father and baby friendly birthing center is long over due in the Philippines. 3 (there are quite a number of lying in centers, birthing centers in the country now. There are hundreds all ready)

NU 6 PAPER
No. 8 – Serendipity Walk
ENTREPRENEURSHIP by Mr. Jorge Saguinsin
Submitted by R110083 (3rd submission)
October 21, 2011
This is a virtual serendipity walk that covers an office and a classroom. A month ago, I was in the middle of a debrief with my principals at the Asian Development Bank when in the course of catching up, my colleague slumps his shoulders saying he was really tired and that he is in dire need of a massage. He proceeded to ask if ADB had a massage or spa facility in house. The answer was no.
Now just last Tuesday, in my Entrep class, Mr Saguinsin had referred to the class the enterprising phenomenon of mobile carinderia. These are the folks who would bring food to the offices and offer the same for sale to office workers as alternative to the office canteen or food court fare. They are convenient and cheap or priced about the same.
And this is when it hit me: how about a mobile spa service? There are already dial-a-spa businesses but usually marketed for home services only. Here is the innovation: this is spa-in-the-office. It will be the answer to office workers looking for a massage or any spa (including a few salon services) treatment that can be delivered within an hour's time. Most stress tensions that bring head ache and body aches occur in the office, after all.
Office employees can arrange for coffee break spa or lunch break or after office treatment right in their offices. Of course, services will have to require from the offices, a room (maybe an unused conference room) that will be allowed by management to be used for such. Senior executives who would have their own rooms would be the natural market for this. In fact, employers who would like to engage the services as part of their company benefit can arrange for this too. The need is present in the offices. Very few call centers actually have their own inhouse spa (or those that are located within their buildings), but this one is a cheaper alternative to these offices as they won't be carrying the overhead for this benefit. And they can tailor-fit the service according to their need and budget.
It is easy and manageable to create a spa atmosphere. The right lighting equipment, aromatherapy scent diffusers, and clean massage robes for the customers will immediately create the spa atmosphere; a portable massage chair/table are already available and of course a skilled and well-trained masseuse will be part of the package. Services can be priced according to extent of service (head only, foot, hand, back and full body), including length of massage. Regular customers may opt to get their own oil concoctions and the spa-in-the-office firm can also produce, package and offer these for sale, or as a premium, offer a bottle of oil for the exclusive use for that one customer only.
The margins would be easy to achieve in that equipment for such is low cost, there will be no overhead on establishment space and utilities, a vehicle would ferry the masseuses to their appointment and it would be efficient too in that, offices are concentrated in business districts in metro Manila. 3 (There are all ready such businesess)

Nu6 Paper by AC Serendipity Walk
3rd Nu6 Paper by R100027
Serendipity Walk. Serendipity Surf. Imagine the wealth of ideas that can come rushing into an entrepreneur when he would just constantly seek for opportunities - definitely a ginormous lot.
1. Mall Map Application with Real-time Locator. With the size of Philippine malls going larger by the minute, wouldn't it be much easier if the likes of SM and Ayala had downloadable Mall Map Applications with built-in Real-time Locators? Almost a fusion of phone applications like Google Maps Mobile , Foursquare and Find my Friends, mall-goers with apple/android phones/tablets should be able to access the mall's free wifi, download the application, and instantly find exact locations of stores or friends vis-a-vis themselves - complete with directions. The Mall Map App should also be able to provide suggestions on alternative brands per user's selection, and flag updates on sales, events, newly-opened stores, and cinema schedules. Another functionality to be explored would be placemarks on parking spaces. Using the same application, a user can simply tag and put a placemark on the location of his parking slot for easier recall after an entire day spent inside the mall.
4
2. In-house Vet at Pet Grooming Stations. With more and more people investing on their pets, pet grooming stations have started to become a popular business in Manila. Dogs and the City, for one, has gained popularity because of its accessibility and offered convenience to pet owners - slash - mall goers, becoming a one-stop-shop not just for pet grooming but also for pet supplies. But wouldn't it be great to have an in-house veterinarian ready for routine check-ups and consultations? Currently, pet owners would have to go to two different places for grooming and vet consultation. So why not merge the two and capture an even bigger chunk of the market? Also, why not explore the possibility of offering extended-care-taking-packages that targets condo-tenants and frequent travellers alike -- those that invest on their pets have no choice but to leave them for a while because of a business/leisure travel? The package could include food and lodging, with a choice of airconditioned or non-airconditioned stall, and with options for morning walks, grooming, and upgrades on food and bed.
3. 24-7 Anywhere Tire Repair/Replacement Service. Taking a hint from Motolite's success in its 24-Hr-7-Days-a-Week- Express Delivery Service, companies such as Servitek and Rapide could probably explore profitability in providing 24-Hr, 7 Days-a-Week Tire Repair/Replacement Service anywhere in the Metro. Especially now that call centers have made Manila another city that never sleeps, and that more and more women are starting to drive - and without much know-how on tires, an on-call and trustworthy tire-service-center-on-wheels could definitely come in handy.4
4. 24-7 Taxi Concierge. Wouldn't it be great to have just 1 number to call to have an access to all major taxi service companies in Manila? And wouldn't it be ideal to have a taxi concierge so trust-worthy, you're sure to retrieve items you've accidentally left inside the cab? Or a premiere taxi service that lets you pay via credit card just when you've ran out of loose change? Or just plainly, safe and secure taxi cabs with honest drivers that won't cheat, mug, or jump you? Presenting, the 24-7 Taxi Concierge. Borrowing its business plan from the likes of City Delivery and Quick Delivery, a 24-7 Taxi Concierge should be able to find, secure, and book taxi cabs anywhere in the Metro for immediate dispatching to the client's location. However, more than just a taxi booking service, the Taxi Concierge should be able to manage different taxi cabs' quality, safety, and security, by partnering with different taxi service companies -- offering lease of equipment (radio communication system, credit card terminals, possibly, wifi and GPS navigators), integrity trainings, marketing and endorsement to corporations/companies/airport, etc.4

Retirement, from a financial perspective is defined as that point in time when active income ceases and retirement capital must provide the cashflow and grow at a rate that outstrips inflation to sustain one's chosen lifestyle. Hence, the model is somewhat linear whereby one accumulates wealth over a period called pre-retirement, and begins to utilize the total capital put together at retirement, over the succeeding phase called post-retirement until expiry.
This is the conventional model for retirement planning. It is assumed either that one opts to retire when his retirement capital has been sufficiently put together as to be enough until death – CAPITAL FOCUSED; OR, by force of circumstance, such as mandatory retirement (60 in the private sector and 65 from the public sector), the individual has little choice but to limit his choice of lifestyle based on he was put together at the deadline (AGE FOCUSED.
For most people, the prevailing version of the model is the AGE FOCUSED one. But what is the quality of life at age 60 or 65?
It is a fact that not only is Finance a cornerstone in successful retirement planning. Health is too. Massive wealth accumulation has no or little meaning if, at retirement, one is weakened by age, ailing with an illness. Pinayayaman lang din pagkatapos ang mga doctor at ospital dahil sila ang tunay na makikinabang sa kayamanan.
And so this new paradigm.
I propose… that in retirement planning… a person will have enjoyed mini retirements in the course of his lifetime… perhaps starting at the age of 40. At 40, one can look back at at least 20 years of income generating years and with careful and determined financial planning and execution, ought to be able to accumulate a some to provide funding for a mini retirement on that year… and again perhaps in 10 years and the next 10 and so forth… Increments may be shorter if the income allows.
The idea is not to wait for a decidedly future… as in way into the future date so as to risk poor health and disposition because of age.
In this way, I believe the individual can be more focused on his personal financial management both because it is required of this model but also that there is something real and concrete to look forward to in a relatively shorter period of time when one is still in the peak of age, health and well-being as to optimize and enjoy a retirement fully.
The mini-retirement that I suggest is a period of at least one year… where one may have a sabbatical. It would be wonderful if the private and the public sector will have infrastructure and support for such a model as to eliminate risk to losing employment. But even without it… I believe there are benefits to stepping back and smelling the roses.
A sabbatical for example… provides ample opportunity for the individual to gain fresh perspectives on his work, on his output, on his life. Artists and those in the creative field (including entrepreneurs and programmers, etc.) wil surely benefit from such a break. In addition, the absence of work is sometimes enough motivation for one to increase his productivity… appreciating work even more and raring to show what else he can do upon return to work.
In this way, there is sustainability to both wealth accumulation and enjoyment of the next mini retirement phase. This also opens the possibility of people finally or officially retiring at an even later age, say 75 or 80 as the mini retirements would have given them the chance to extend their productivity well into their advance years.
In the end, the result is a revitalized, longer productive society as a whole. 3

2nd Nu6 Paper by AC- Practical Vending Machine Ideas
2nd Nu6 Paper by R100027 - Practical Vending Machine Ideas
Weird vending machines have spurted out all over the world. Vending machines that dispense marijuana, gold, bikes, luxury cars, lobsters, and bugs are but some of the items enumerated by I New Idea as part of the weirdest innovations/uses of vending machines. But why not come up with something more practical?
1. Healthy Vending Machine - Wouldn't it be great to have a vending machine for healthy food? Now that consumers have become more health-conscious, readily-available fresh food options - ready-to-eat salad, chilled pasta, cereal/bran with milk, dried fruits with cheese and crackers, yoghurt, etc. - can definitely come in handy especially at offices and schools/universities. Chilled vending machines - the same type they use for Coca-Cola products - can probably be enhanced and made more suitable for fresh foods, keeping to mind proper storage, quality, and long-lasting freshness of products.
2. Ice Cream Vending Machine - Given that Philippines is a tropical country, ice cream is an indispensable part of Filipinos' lives - children and adults alike. So why not make ice cream readily accessible via Vending Machines? Nestle, for one, is already partners with Philippine Vending Corporation, but mostly for just coffee and drinks. The company can probably deepen the relationship and extend the coverage to ice cream so we can all have Nestle Drumstick, Pops, Temptations and the like in office pantries, malls, even MRT terminals.
3. Hot and Ready-to-Eat Food Vending Machine - Given today's fast-paced and busy lifestyle, people have started sacrificing hot meals for junk food. Especially in offices and universities where people are busy and preoccupied with deadlines, individuals are more inclined to grab something to eat from vending machines. So why not combine the convenience of vendos with the goodness of hot meals? Ready-to-eat hot pockets, dinner rolls, and pasta can be stored frozen inside the vending machine which then heats up food in a separate compartment prior to making it available to the consumer. The same mechanism within vendos used for heating up coffee can probably be utilized but enhanced for more suitability.
4. Movie Tickets / Ticketing Vending Machine - Similar to the self-service machine being utilized for issuance of flight boarding passes, the likes of Ayala / SM malls can probably invest on movie ticketing kiosks to allow movie patrons to conveniently reserve, purchase, and retrieve tickets on their own without going to the box office. Other functionalities to consider are: 1. wiring ticketing kiosks to allow consumers to buy movie tickets from any mall location to watch at any other mall location, 2. wiring ticketing kiosks to allow consumers to access, retrieve, and print-out tickets reserved online, 3. collaborating with Ticketnet and other cinema establishments to offer consumers with a wider range of ticketing options.
5. Credit Card enhancement on Vending Machines - With all the ideas fore-mentioned, it seems but fitting that vending machines now be enhanced with credit card functionality. Especially now that more and more transactions are becoming cash-less, it's just matter of time before people start forgoing loose change. The convenience offered by vending machines can also be amplified now that individuals need not look for bills and coins 'acceptable' by the machine. 4

Resending the paper:
NU 6 PAPER
PROFESSONALISM – New Work, Methods, Practices
ENTREPRENEURSHIP by Mr. Jorge Saguinsin
Submitted by R110083
September 27, 2011
I propose a financial services firm that offers traditional financial advisory services not unlike those provided by commercial, universal and multinational banks for its high net worth clients.
These normally include the following:
· Advisory and discretionary investment services and providing a wide range of investment vehicles accessible from around the world like bonds, equities, structured products, mutual funds and hedge funds.
· Wealth planning and estate planning solutions.
The innovation proposed here is the expansion and inclusion of the following product and service offerings that cater not only to high net worth individuals but to the general investing public. With exception to bank and quasi-banking functions of banks and same such financial institutions, the clients of this new financial services firm will be:
(1) access to, on the spot or periodic comparison of interest rates offerings of banks and financial institutions on fixed-income instruments such as TDs. SDA. Bonds, CPs, PNs.
(2) Access to, on the spot or periodic market analysts' surveys, studies or projections on the financial and currency markets.
(3) Assistance in procuring information on various financial institutions for when clients want to open particular accounts for their investments and need help in deciding which FI to establish relationships with for mutual fund, money market and stock market investing.
(4) Advisory services on tax filing, personal financial planning, estate planning and retirement planning.
(5) Advisory services on debt elimination and debt optimization strategies for the individual.
In summary, this firm will provide convenience and efficiency in many an ordinary investor's hurdle at creating and managing his personal investment portfolio and enhancing his net worth. The mission and vision is to empower the individual and corporate client with adequate and timely information that they may require for informed decision making.
The innovation will allow the individual to pro-actively optimize his resources at the shortest time and most efficient way possible. 3.0

Nu6 Idea by AC,New Business Idea/s for [Fashion] Bloggers
Nu6 Idea: New Business Idea/s for [Fashion] Bloggers
With the growing trend towards customization and on-demand business, personalized digital marketing has evidently grown over the past years. Traditional and mass marketing seem to have significantly lost its appeal to Search Engines, Campaign URL, Online Video, Banner/Pop-up Advertising and more recently, Digital Social Media Marketing (check out and watch Social Media Statistics 2011 <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SuNx0UrnEo&feature=player_embedded>). Major brands such as Starbucks, Southwest Airlines, and Microsoft Bing have already leveraged their presence in Facebook by tapping Fans and Friends of Fans, while the likes of Nokia, Procter and Gamble, and Summit Media have already explored Blogging for marketing.
Fashion labels are no different. With about 346 million people following blogs globally (as of Year 2008), Coach, Mango, Zara, Forever21 - among many others - have already commissioned fashion bloggers to exercise Astroturfing and take advantage of Stealth and Viral Marketing. But how come not too many bloggers have taken an advantage of making money out of their blog entries - out of their "mastery" of topics they choose to talk about? True, a blogger can and may be paid for Sponsored Links/Stories or even commissioned assignments, but hardly any blogger has actively marketed him/herself for "Expert Opinion-On-Demand". For instance, Tricia Gosingtian of Tricia Will Go Places <http://blog.triciagosingtian.com/>, a Philippine-based fashion blog with over 4 million page views from across the world, could probably make tons of money by offering practical fashion consultancy services. Imagine, if she were able to capture 25% of her audience and charge a meager Php1.00 for each of their online queries, she would still make about Php1,000,000.00. Cecille Zamora-Van Straten of Chuvaness.com <http://chuvaness.livejournal.com/>, could make tons more with over 23 million page views. For a peso (paid via Paypal, mobile money, credit card, deal coupon/vouchers, or credit points) aren't we just all in need of a good, personalized fashion advise?
Or why not create an "Online-Blogger's Garage-Sale"? 1. Consumers are 90% influenced by peer recommendation, 2. Blog followers get a lot of influence from bloggers they subscribe to, and 3. if there's anything that fashion bloggers have, it's a ginormous pile of old/used/unused clothes, shoes and accessories. What better way to re-organize the closet then than to make money out of each piece of clothing you try to dispose of? Nothing like eBay on your own blog.
