Most Filipinos love Japanese food especially sushi; its like "ulam and rice" for Japanese and what is nice about it is that it is bite size and easy to eat.
Filipino culture is turning into a fast paced life from a laid backed one. Sometimes we don't have time to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. Hence, fast food and easy to eat meals suddenly picked up. The down side of this foods especially the no-cook, easy-to-prepare, it lacks nutrients.
So I thought of sushi! Filipino style!!!
Same concept as sushi of Japan but what's different is that instead of using raw fish, crab meat etc. we will be using the typical "ulam" that Filipinos love. We will make it bite-size and easy to carry.
For example everyone's favorite breakfast longsilog.  Instead of serving it in a Styrofoam we will make it as a sushi. Here are the 4 easy steps:
1.       Cook the longganisa, rice and egg(make it scrambled as this will be the wrapper of the longsilog sushi. Instead of using seaweed wrapper of the Japanese)
2.       Cut the longganisa into bite size and prepare or roll the rice like the one we see in sushi
3.       Put the longganisa on top of rice and wrap it with scrambled egg
4.       Put the longsilog sushi inside a Styrofoam to be served
You can also use hotodogs, tapa, or anything that we usually eat during breakfast.
For lunch For lunch and dinner, let us have beefsteak or bistek. Same 4 easy steps:
1.       Cook the bistek and rice
2.       Cut the beef into bite size and prepare or roll the rice.
3.       Put the beef on top of rice and wrap it with the onion that was cooked with the bistek
4.       Sauce or "sawsawan" will be the soup or "sabaw" of the bistek
For the vegetarian and loves veggies, Pinakbet! Maki style!
1.       Cook pinakbet and rice
2.       Chop the veggies of the pinakbet and prepare or roll the rice
3.       put the veggies in between of the rice
4.       sauce or "sawsawan" will be the "sabaw" of the pinakbet
What's nice about this is that you won't be using any spoon and fork for you to eat your favorite food. As a result you can eat it while you're driving, in the office or wherever you are! 4

What pissess me off!
Last Sunday I was on my way to Sta. Rosa, Laguna via Eton/Greenfield City to play basketball. To my surprise at 5.30am there was a terrible traffic; cars are on standstill and not moving at all. The cause is that there is an ongoing Fun Run/"Earth Run".
Runs nowadays are so "in". Organizers say that it is for a cause. To give awareness to the protection of our planet, Earth. But I don't buy that crap!
Why? Here's my take.
What pisses me off during the so called "Earth Run" are these:
1.       The heavy traffic that they cause.
You wake up early from a nice sleep, get some nice early exercise, then all of a sudden traffic will greet your morning! Geez!!!
During the "run" last Sunday, all lanes were taken by the runners that no vehicles can pass by. I think organizers of that "run" didn't think of any plans to ease up the traffic. I can say this because last year this was also a problem that caused havoc at Eton City. Also, traffic can add up to pollution.
2.        Used plastic cups
During "Earth Runs" organizers give free waters to the runners using this plastic cups.  And runners just throw their cups on the road. By the end of the event, hundreds or maybe thousands of these cups will be collected!
Wow! That's how you give awareness in protecting the Earth, by adding waste through your plastic cups?!?!?!
Organizers might say that it can be recyclable. Yeah, maybe if you're in the US, they give high priority on recycling. But here, in the Philippines, I'm sure most of that plastic cups will just go to dump sites and will add waste on our planet!
Solution:
There is no other way to prevent traffic during "Earth Runs" but proper planning or rerouting of cars. Not just by closing the whole lanes that no cars can pass by and just leave it as is. That is plainly stupid!
But plastic cups, different story. To lessen or eliminate the use of these non-biodegradable plastic cups organizers can announce ahead of time that runners should bring their own drinking bottles or hydra pack. They can explain to the runners that this is the real "Earth Run", no plastics.
For sure runners will understand the organizers and it will give the true meaning of EARTH RUN!   4
