NU 8- by Hannah AbelleraThemed alarm clocks

NU (8)-Themed alarm clocks

Many of us are having a hard time, waking up in the morning. We set alarms in our cellular phone or smartphone's clock, choose an alarm tune, set the volume and choose the snooze time. Or we simply, adjust our very own alarm clocks.

Sometimes, we get familiar with the sound, so we don't wake up immediately.  Most of the time, we also become so accustomed with the time that our clocks will alarm, the tendency is that we wake up before the clock will sound, we click the snooze immediately, because we know we still have 5 minutes or 10 minutes left and we'll just turn off the alarm.

Having these familiarities, we tend to have a harder time to wake up than before. What I suggest is to let the sound of the alarm automatically change every day, by setting it every week. The snooze time will be in different intervals, like there will be an option in the phone that it will snooze in 2 min, 5 min or 10 min in one setting and that's in random order.  There will be a sort of a folder, (we can call it as "themed alarm") wherein we can select different sounds and time for random snooze, place it in that folder and make it as a default. There will also be a random combination of the snooze time and the sound accompanying it. Aside from the theme, the phone will light up intensely, lighting up a dark room is also a help. We can also create different selections of sounds and snooze to avoid familiarization and wake up in our desired time. 4

NU (4) An ID System for Patients by Hannah A

NU (4) An ID System for Patients

World-class hospitals are arising in the Philippines, either it is renovated or new hospitals were built to offer high-tech facilities and services. It is inevitable that a person cannot be sick and visit a doctor, kids or adults, male or female. Of course, the patient's visit due to his/her illness will have a record that will be filed to serve as a reference for doctors in tracking that patient's history of illness. Storage of files and maintaining it for a long period of time will result to eating up spaces on the doctor's clinic. Most of the time, after long years, it will just be disposed. I think it would be better to let a patient have his/her general hospital identification card that has a Quick Response (QR) Code in it. The ID will be freely issued by the hospital.  Once the QR Code in the ID is scanned, it will directly link into an online database of the hospital. Basically, these are the following information that could be found in it:
-        Patient's medical history, the patient's sickness and its probable cause
-        Patient's medication, name of drugs and its dosage prescribed, duration of intake
-        Observations to the patient while still admitted in the hospital
-        Name of the doctor who attended to the patient
-        Name of the nurse who monitored the patient
-        Name of the hospital visited
-        Billing statement, if confined or operated in the hospital
The ID card will be issued by the hospital of free charge. Another thing, hospitals need to have computers with QR code readers posted on each level of the hospital, two for each level located on its both ends. Nurses will directly encode the pertinent data of the patient on the database that is accessible in the internet. And if the patient is admitted, observations of the doctors and nurse would be encoded. There will computers also in the rooms of the patients. Doctors need not to write on their notepad to prescribe medication and the summary of the consultation or treatment in a record sheet, but it will be directly on the database. Only the doctor can make a correction and addition on the patient's history because before the input of data, the database will be accessed first by the doctor, in which he/she will have its own unique identity code. The prescribed drugs can be bought to the pharmacies that have QR code readers posted in their stores.
With the use of this new ID system, storage of paper in the doctor's clinic will be of less existence, the patient will have easy access on his/her medical history and medication taken.  4

NU12 (5) -Calling All Artists Who Will Decorate The Jollijeeps In Makati

Makati is like the center of business in the Philippines. We all see the tall buildings of corporations, hospitals, embassies, condominiums, and other establishments. Several employees, eat in their respective canteens, go out in restaurants or buy food in Jollijeep that are posted along the side of the road. As we can see, jollijeeps are either small plain-looking or covered by a tarpaulin stainless steel mobile canteen.
Jollijeeps are unique feature of our country and we can use this to at least give us a better image by making it look good. A lot of foreigners are visiting Makati for business and other purposes. In line with this, I would like to suggest a contest for all artists who are interested and have the heart to put their creativity in doing a mosaic in our very own Jollijeeps. If jeepneys are known for being vibrant, jollijeeps can also be similar to that image. It would be of a mosaic type of art. The theme would be anything that would promote tourism in the Philippines. I choose mosaic because an artist will have more room for creativity and they'll be using more colors. This will brighten and give life to the dull looking jollijeeps. It would help attract more customers because it would give an appealing look for the mobile canteens that will also be of help to boost their sales.  The artists will be using water-resistant paints so that the work of art will stay for a long period of time. In the long run, painting the Jollijeep can also protect it from tarnishing. The top 3 most beautifully painted and captured the theme of the contest will be rewarded and will have the chance to exhibit his works in the mall. The winner will be screened and scored by selected judges (50%) and will be voted by the citizens of Makati.
Many Filipino artists will be known and will be appreciated. Jollijeeps will also be another representation of the uniqueness of our country. 3.5

NU 12 (6)– Battery Operated Hair Dryer
Every girl loves to have a bouncy and full of life hair. No one wants it to be dull. So, us, girls head to the parlor or purchase our own hair dryer. This is to dry out our hair and give it a nice volume. Sometimes, the effect of the blow dried hair would cease as the day approach to end. Wearing of make-up is easily done as well as changing of clothes, especially if we have to attend to an event or just to hang out with friends. But the hair is sometimes the problem, if one has an unmanageable hair, one would end up tying her hair up. A hair dryer is a helpful tool to give life to hair, but the problem is that it is electrically -operated, an electrical socket is needed to use it. Not all malls have a socket for the dryer. In this case, it's about time to have a handy and battery operated hair dryer.

The battery operated hair dryer will be useful to those women who have busy schedules and find time to have a work and life balance or even just ordinary girls who just want to look better to lift up their confidence level. If you have a car, you can stay in your car for a few minutes to fix or re-fix your hair before meeting up with colleagues and friends after work. The hair dryer can also be used in out of town vacation in the beach or in the provinces wherein some of the not so commercialized areas have limited access to electricity or there is a schedule in the use of electricity. At the same time, we will not have a tangle problem with its cord and the possibility to be electrocuted will be at least eliminated. The battery to be used is of course, rechargeable, like the lithium ion battery.  The hair dryer will be available in different colors, designs, and sizes. It will also be in two-speed level and a cool shot. The cool shot will give of less heat in drying of hair. 4

NU 12-Tea vending machine by Hannah Abellera

NU12 (2)-New Business Idea (Milk Tea Vending Machine)

There are several vending machines placed in malls, schools and offices that offer different products. Basic necessities for females like tissues and sanitary pads; junk foods, soft drinks as well as coffee and chocolate drinks are also available in some schools and offices. But there is one product that I actually think could be considered to be available in vending machines, and that is milk tea.
Today, more and more people, from kids to senior citizens, are being captivated by the delightful taste of milk tea. Probably, because most of us believe that tea is a healthier drink than coffee and soft drinks. Basically, milk tea is not difficult to prepare because its ingredients are readily available in the supermarket, namely, black tea, sugar, milk, tapioca, water and ice.
The vending machine would practically be similar to the one that serve coffee, but it will be serving hot and cold beverages. The price would probably range from Php40 to Php50, more or less half price lower than the ones sold in the shops in the mall. Size of cup would be 16oz, one size only. There will be a dispenser for the black tea, milk, water and ice. These ingredients will be served in standard amount. There will also be a dispenser for the "sinkers". Sinkers can be modified, the customer can choose tapioca, nata de coco, or grass jelly. The amount of sugar would vary depending on the customer's preference of sweetness. A sweetness meter just like in the coffee vending machines can be used. Straws and cups would be released by the vending machine first, followed by the milk tea. If the customer wants a hot plain black tea, it would also be available in a lesser price, at least Php20. 3.0

NU 12 (3) New Product_Fried Cassava Cake by Hannah Abellera

NU12 (3)-New Products (Fried Cassava Cake)
We have tasted lots of local sweets in the country, like "maruya", "puto", and "bibingka". All of these taste good and taste better if there's coffee. We are also very familiar with cassava cake and it's also delicious and sweet. But there is one that has, so as to say "experimented" by my father, the Fried Cassava Cake. Cassava, in Filipino is called "balinghoy ", a root crop. One day, he asked me to try a snack that he prepared. It was like a pan cake covered with Japanese bread crumbs. It tastes good, not so sweet and not so bland.  But I think it can still be improved. It is made of cassava, coconut milk, sugar, and Japanese bread crumbs
These are my suggestions for improvement to come up with a new product. First, is to prepare the food in smaller size than the pan cake, well much smaller (bite size) and thinner (to make it crunchy). Since it is a carbohydrate, there is a possibility that our tummy may immediately become full without enjoying the food. It is covered with bread crumbs and deep fried, so it is crunchy. To make it more palatable, I want to have a variety of dips, and add a little presentation. Chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, peanut butter and custard can be the dips to choose from. Or it can be sprinkled with confectioner's sugar or colored candies just to have a distributed sweet taste of the fried cassava cake. And lastly, the flavor can be a combination of salty and sweet taste, just sprinkle salt and dip it to any of the sweets mentioned above. Don't forget to combine with your favorite delicious drinks, like hot or cold coffee or any juice drink. 4

NU 12 (1) Abellera, Hanna - New Spending Habit

NU12 (1)-New Spending Habits
Hannah Rhuelle B. Abellera
S10-ENTREP
As a single and independent person, it is very important that I am practicing the proper way of saving up and spending money. It would also help if I would be settling down and have my own family. It is wise and practical if person knows where the hard earned money goes. I would like to keep myself away from buying of unnecessary items.  To have new spending and saving habits, I have thought of the following that might help:
·         On pay day, I would separate an amount of money for my monthly obligations like cellphone bills, credit card bills, and contribution to house expenses and others.
·         Deposit an amount of money immediately on my savings account
·         If I want to buy something new  for myself, I'll just stick to the range of price I'm going to buy
·         I'll withdraw the 1st week's allowance and leave the 2nd week's allowance, just withdraw one week at a time
·         Budget my weekly activities, I would make a list on my regular spending on a day and then add an excess on my budget (in case there's an emergency spending), that would also include if I'll be having a hang out with family, boyfriend and friends
·         I would buy a small index card box. Inside it, I'll put partition, index cards with labels on top. Labels would be indicating the names of the days of the week, monthly obligations and additional savings
·         I'll place the money in each day, I would really try to strictly follow the set budget on that day and at least still have savings from it
·         If I would save from a day's budget, I would place it in the index card box in the "additional savings" or "monthly obligations" labeled partition. This would serve as a fund and that would depend whether I am going to buy things for myself or add it to my monthly expenses. And if this would be successful, then this routine would continue, hopefully.
If I could abide in my new spending and saving habits, it would make my savings account intact for future spending. The savings can be used for travelling, investing it in venture and other higher purposes.
