Revision NU12 #6 Molina, Jose Paolo - pasa charge
Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship
"New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."
Hi sir,
You noted on your blog that we can use computers <also> to charge our phones.
To
put my idea in context, I
was thinking of our lifestyle as yuppies. We charge our phones at
night. in the morning our phone's battery is full. At night when we go
out with friends, that's usually when I experience low batteries.
In
biking I believe that you could also use this because when my
officemates go out to bike, who's to say that not one of them will have a
problem with their phone batteries at one point.
So
when that happens I wish that I could just take energy from a friend's
phone because there are no computers in bars/restaurants and if every we
go out of town camping or on the road biking. I think my idea will
really be useful.
I have revised some parts of my idea to put it into context.
Hoping for your consideration
JP
Pasa Charge
Nokia used to be the king of cellphones.
They were known for units such as 5110 3210 and other very durable
user-friendly phones. These phones last up to 3 days before needing recharging.
Now Samsung has overtaken Nokia
with the advent of smartphones. These phones are more advanced because they are
capable of doing so many things other than send texts and make calls.
However Smart Phones have a
glaring problem for me. Unlike the phones from the early 2000, batteries
nowadays last for hours only. My nokia express music phone lasts 2 days before
needing recharge. My Samsung Galaxy Note in contrast lasts around 12 hours to
24 hours only.
I don’t like the hassle of
running out of battery on important occasions because there might be important
calls that can’t get through.
This happens a lot especially
when I’m out with friends on parties and my girlfriend tries to call me, there are
times that my phone is already empty. This situation could escalate a war
because she might think that I’m just hiding what I’m doing. Thus my problem
with smart phones.
You can't really expect that there would be available power
outlets on crowded bars or better yet, when you go camping out with
friends. There are a lot of places that adventurous people go to that
they have only mother nature and friends (who owns phones also).
Now there is a thing called
Pasaload where a person passes his prepaid load to another person. I was
thinking why is it not possible for this to apply in batteries? If my phone has
low battery, all I need is an electric cable that enables power from one
cellphone to transfer to another phone.
Samsung
and other manufacturers should address this problem of the battery and I
think what I am thinking is an innovative way to help in solving the
problem.
This solves the problem of people
using low battery as an excuse because it is easier to borrow electricity from
other friend's phone. (Imagine the happy
girlfriends who would no longer have to put up with that excuse J ) 4 <Hi I was just pointing out that there is such a practice device now from computer to cp charger)

NU 12 (8, 9 ,10, 11) - Arlo Cristobal - Sentrep
NU12 #8 - What pisses you off at the mall? : Free Air (Arlo Cristobal)
I like going to the mall. Especially during summer when it's extremely hot outside and the air conditioners inside the malls are maxed out. The only problem I have with malls is the sheer volume of people come summer season. The mall goers spike in numbers due to summer vacation, mall promos and, of course, the free cool air experience. With the bulk of people piling up in malls, it often gets too loud and sometimes too warm in certain areas of the mall.
One solution to this is to have a mall sensor and an outline of the mall that shows were the majority of the people are located. Similar to the lights in the mall parking that glows red when it's occupied and green when it's free. A digital map in the mall would show areas with less people in green and areas that are packed with red. This solution can go both ways. Those who fancy going to crowded areas to check the commotion would be attracted there, and those who wants more room to move and better air quality can choose the "green zones."
This will even out the distribution of people in the mall and the mall operators can also benefit from it. First, they would know where to put additional security. Second, they can monitor temperatures in certain areas so as not to put all air conditioner units in full blast. That would definitely save them significant amount money from electricity bills. Lastly, they can identify which areas are visited more. This can be beneficial to future mall expansion plans and future new malls. 4
NU12 #9 - What pisses you off at the neighborhood? : Spot Lights to Stop Fights (Arlo Cristobal)
One night last February 2013, there was a random case of horrific violence along our street. I don't live in a private subdivision with 24-hour security nor do I belong in a high profile neighborhood. We have lived in this area for as long as I remember and our street had been plagued with alcohol and drug related violence from time to time. The local government had put in several measures to keep the peace, but nothing had been substantial.
The barangay had implemented a curfew for children to keep them safe, but most of those who initiate violence are adults. They also tried putting a roaming squad of barangay tanod, but its effectiveness only limited. Surveillance cameras would be a good solution in isolating offenders, but would be too costly to implement and maintain. The solution I propose is simple and sustainable.
To aid the barangay officials catch and identify offenders, they can put spotlights that can be triggered with loud sounds and rapid footsteps (most offenders come in running before they initiate violence; trust me, I've seen my share of such incidents being in the mid-shift for 3 straight years). It should also have a remote trigger so the barangay tanod can manually switch it on whenever they see suspicious activities. This will only be and aid, but not the entire solution. They should still keep the curfew and regular roaming. <with motion detector?>
To make this sustainable, they can affix solar panels and capacitors in the street lamps. They can use the solar charged capacitors until it runs out and just switch to grid power automatically when needed. 3
NU12 #10 - What pisses you off in your office? : Food Security (Arlo Cristobal)
I always bring food to work. A lot of my co-workers bring food too to save money. What really pisses me off lately has been the frequent incidence of food theft in our office. I don't know if this is a minor offence, but it really bothers me that people will take the food you prepare with so much care from your house. We tried putting labels in our food, and notes in the refrigerator door warning other people from taking food that isn't theirs. These incidents had become so frequent lately that we even thought of putting bait food with laxative in the fridge! Of course, that would be against our code of conduct.
As a solution, what I suggest the company do it fit the refrigerators with mini drawers that has built-in locks. This locks will have their default keys left there and whoever wants to use the "refrigerator slots" can do so in a first come, first serve basis. There should also be a log sheet so that the key holders can be monitored. In case the employee forgets the food there, representatives of the maintenance staff in charge of cleaning the ref can have a spare key so that anything left there over the weekend can still be thrown away. < hahaha necessity is the mother of invention really> 4
This solution may be a bit too drastic, but I really hate it when people mess with my food! To maximize space, people can also share ref slots with each other. This way, you'd be able to keep your food safe and your lunch/dinner buddies closer.
NU12 #11 - What pisses you off at AGSB? : Panic Parking (Arlo Cristobal)
One thing that pisses me off in AGSB is having to pay for parking upon entrance. One experience that I have was going to class one Saturday morning and forgetting to prepare 45 pesos for my parking fee. I usually come in just in time for the 9am class so I really don't have a lot of time to spare. I know that the solution to this is to come in a bit earlier, but there will be times when nature and surrounding conspires against you and you still come up late despite your best effort.
The quick solution to this dilemma is to have the parking payment paid upon leaving. But this might cause traffic during dismissal time. Another solution would require the use of existing technology. Why not use a prepaid card system that you can swipe to enter. For this instance, the student ID can be designed for this functionality since you would need your ID to enter the campus anyway. That way, you don't have to prepare 45 pesos every Saturday morning. The parking fee can either be pre-paid or post-paid and any unsettled fee can be settled before the term ends. To add, designing the ID for this functionality would not need additional design changes. Our school IDs are already equipped with bar codes and were already being used in the library prior to the installation of finger print scanners. To save cost, they can simply use the old scanner from the library and place it in the parking and modify it with a bigger boom gate. For the parking fee balance and payment, a few lines of code can easily be inserted in the database since all our records already exist in school. 4
NU12 #1 Molina, JP - Sentrep - birthday greetings on Pizzas
Birthday Greetings on Pizzas
One day at the office, my colleague had a birthday. This coworker of mine didn't really have a lot of budget to treat the whole office to some snacks so the plan was to treat only her close friends.
Now one of my other colleagues ordered pizza for the celebrant since he saw that there were only few variety of snacks. Now it is customary for celebrants to at least have a cake and blow candles but this particular officemate of mine didn't have any cake.
So when the pizza arrived I thought to myself that there should be a way to put greetings on pizzas!
Birthday Cakes for me are a bit overrated these days. The celebrant actually doesn't eat them all and specialty cakes are astronomically expensive now. And it's all for the sake of sending a greeting that you could also say it yourself but thought it would be better if you write it on a cake.
So I wondered what if pizza could be used as a substitute to greet someone since I believe us yuppies would prefer Pizza over Cakes because the former can make you full while the latter would just give you stomach ache if you eat too many. And besides that, cakes are full of sugar that is why diabetics are guarded in eating them.
While pizza is a more complete food. It has bell pepper, onions, salami, pineapple, cheese, tomato, olives, ham, bacon, in some cases there also parsley. Hence, it would have protein, calcium, vit A, B, C, fiber, etc. It is also not deep fried so the oil is only minimal.
Pizza restaurants should recognize the fact that people buy pizzas when they celebrate something. And I think they can help hype the celebration when they put greetings on pizzas.
But how to put greetings is one question. I was thinking of putting it on the edges (crust) and by using cream cheese, they can write the greetings neatly. Another possible way is by using bell peppers as letterings for the pizza. 4
NU12 # 1 - Kevin Toledo Sentrep
NU12 # 1: New attitude / Paradigm – Kevin Toledo
Defeating Procrastination and Poor Time Management.Procrastination and poor time management. Those two are the waterloos of my personality. I tend to procrastinate things where "manyana habit" is very evident in me. I really do not know why I tend to do that, but it is really frustrating in the end on how I will manage time to finish different tasks in a very short/little time always left for me to work on those different stuff. Maybe its because I tend to underestimate things where I become too arrogant to think that I can do things and work things out easily, that in the end I tend to lose track of this tasks and always find myself with a limited time to finish a task and thereby sacrificing to provide the best quality that I can give . I must admit, it is a very bad habit that I must change, that I must adopt the new attitude of immediately working on every task given to me or I am required to do in order to provide quality outputs ahead of time. To start, I would now take down notes on a specific note book for MBA class and at the same time try to have an organizer in order to better manage my schedules. 3
NU12 #2: New Spending Habits / Routine – Kevin ToledoI'm the person who will not spend in different accessories or clothes unless I really need it. I am also not an impulsive buyer. But I just noticed that although I spend only out of necessity, I still spend a lot on food and transportation. From now on, I'll be budgeting what I spend in food in a day and in transportation. For food, I will bring packed lunch instead, and in transportation, I will not ride a taxi/cab anymore, and or put it in the last option, instead. The savings I generate from it will all be put to investment, most probably in stocks or in fixed income type of investment, as I follow the idea that investment=savings.
NU12 #3: Professionalism – new work, methods, practices – Kevin Toledo- I have been working with a Japanese firm for almost 2 years now, and I could say that I have learned a lot in terms of professionalism. Following are the lists of practices I have learned in my current job terms of professionalism:* Being sure all the time. Never assume.* Asking why 5 times – When reporting my boss, full knowledge of a certain matter is very important where we have been thought to think naturally by asking "why 5 times" in able to know all underlying reasons/factors why such an incident happened.* Working as a team – this is normal in a Japanese firm. Although, there are persons-in-charge (PICs) for every business our division handles, knowledge of what each PICs are doing/handling is a must, and when one is facing a problem, he/she can always ask for support from his/her team in solving such problem, more so from our boss. Whenever one faces a serious problem in business, it is a concern of the whole team and not just by the PIC.* Accountability – We were trained to think that as if we own the businesses we are handling, where accountability and responsibility to it is embedded to us, PICs are accountable to our GM to whatever happens in the business we handle. Same goes for our boss, that he is accountable to our Branch GM in whatever happens to the businesses our division handles.* It is important that you know how to socialize and entertain clients/customers. Businesses are always build upon relationship, in order to do so, one must know how to entertain clients/potential business partners. Knowledge of good restaurants of where to treat clients is important. As my boss always says "Eating and drinking is very important in doing business".
NU12 #4: New processes at work, study - Kevin M. Toledo* Contacts databaseIn doing business, you meet a lot of people and over time, you accumulate business cards. And honestly, I have been a having problem in managing these accumulated business cards, even with the use of different filing system such as using albums or a business card box with alphabetical partitions. With this, I initiated of creating a contacts database for our team. It is just in Excel file where each of our team members can access it and update it in our shared folders in our computer. Since then, it has been easier for us to find contact details of a certain person/company we met.* Business Continuity KitWhenever one quits his or her job or one has a new assignment overseas that requires for him to transfer to someone the business he/she is handling, I noticed that it really takes time for such transfer of knowledge or for training another person to handle a business. So, internally, I proposed to our team that in order to make business transfers easier, it is better that we record details of every business we handle. Details such us on how it is done, who our contacts are, what do we do or who to contact in every situation/aspect of a particular business, as well as updates of what is happening in that particular business. With such, it will be easier for the new party to learn the job, and easier for the former person-in-charge to transfer handling of a particular business.
New12 #5: New products / product improvements – Kevin Toledo· Electric Bill ManagerI have been noticing that the major cause of high electricity consumption is poor management of electric devices in a household, wherein there are times that these electric devices are left open and running for whole day. To address it, I have thought to invent an electric bill manager device. This device is actually an equipment timer add-on. It can be installed per plug per device or in the electricity main panel board where it can be programmed to run for how much time you want to run it or when you want to run it. It also already gives you a computation through its small screen of how much electricity you will consume on a certain timer setting. This is packed with a software wherein you could actually monitor and project electricity consumption of your household.

NU12 #7: Serendipity walk – take a walk along a busy street near you. List down as many business opportunities you can think of. Just list down. – Kevin ToledoSerendipity Walk at Pablo Ocampo (Vito Cruz, near St. Scholastic's College)Vito Cruz is a very busy street where a lot of establishments are located such as fast food restaurants, print shops, internet café's, laundry shops, grocery, 24-hour convenience store. Most of these establishments cater to the student populations of the schools situated in the area (St. Scholastica's College & DLSU). But still as I take the serendipity walk, I realized that establishments such as the following that I listed down must also be created, as Vito Cruz area is not just populated by students, but families as well. It has residential areas where the following establishments I listed down must be addressed.- Pet grooming center- Veterinary Clinic- One-stop Pulutan station- Bakery- Pharmaceutical Drug Store
NU12 #8: What pisses you off at the mall? What do you suggest? – Kevin ToledoOpen escalatorsFor safety reasons, I have been pissed off on how mall developers and owners have been failing to consider enough safety measures in putting up escalators, considering that most mall goers are families with kids. Personally, I think that there should be some sort of polycarbonate/glass enclosure in the escalator railings to prevent accidents of falling from it. Further, signs of "watch for your head" is not enough in certain escalator placements. It cannot 100% assure that putting such precautions/signs would prevent a certain accident from happening. By putting up these glass/polycarbonate enclosures, it will surely eliminate possibility of a person riding it from getting its neck broken.
NU12 #9: What pisses you off at the neighborhood? What do you suggest? – Kevin ToledoRiding in tandem snatchers/hold-uppersSafety and security has never been guaranteed in the Philippines, and many have been victims of crimes such as kidnapping, hold-ups, snatching, etc. This time, most common is the riding in tandem schemes of snatching and hold-ups. This has been a problem in our neighborhood for quite a time already, and even if it is being reported to the police authorities, no sustainable solutions have been provided. Even our "barangay tanods" cannot solve it and is threatened as well. This really pisses me off. And the solution I can think off is an automatic blocking mechanism in every street-end in order to easier catch these riding in tandems. These mechanisms have proximity sensors strategically located in the streets and are designed to be activated by barangay tanods remotely whenever a snatching incident is witnessed. The mechanism will work in such a manner that the motorcycle that is used by these snatchers will be automatically detected by the proximity sensors and be surprised by these blocking mechanism thereby throwing them off from the motorcycle and immobilizing them for a few minutes. These blocking mechanisms are of course designed to alarm the people in the neighborhood that there is an on-going crime incident. Also, this mechanism is designed to alarm the nearest police station with a guarantee that police help will come in just 2-mins.
NU12 #10: What pisses you off in your office/ What do you think must be done? - Kevin ToledoTime consuming Biometric Finger Print logi-n-log-out SystemThis year, our office adopted biometrics system in replacement of the manual time-in and time-out system. This system was adopted for efficiency of getting time records and for safety purposes. I really support the idea as it should indeed provide efficiency and record better data. However, it did not really provide efficiency and it pisses me off where the finger scanning really takes time before it could identify the employee's finger print. There are also times that these finger print scanner would actually fail to recognize finger prints. Further, whenever a group of people logs in or out at the same time, it would always create a queue and before the last person could log in his/her finger print, minutes has already passed, so as back-up the guard still manually logs the time-in and time out of the employees. The problem lies with the system provider where the software being used to identify our (employees) finger prints really takes time. This doesn't justify the cost of availing the service and the technology. As a solution, I recommend that the system and technology provider must upgrade whatever software it uses in order to improve its finger scanning process.
NU12 #11: What pisses you off at AGSB? What must be done? – Kevin ToledoLimited availability of electric plugs around the campus.Whenever I needed to charge my mobile phone or laptop, it pisses me off that it is really difficult for me to find electric plugs I can use to recharge electronic devices. These should be addressed, as providing extra plugs should not be costly.Poor and Inefficient Internet AccessIt pisses me off to think that the AGSB Rockwell campus cannot provide a decent internet connection to its students. Aside from the poor internet connection, it has limited wi-fi spots and accessibility. Internet connection was very difficult during our Infote Class wherein we had to attend class online most especially if we will be asked to report on a particular date, the group would always resort to pay for internet access outside the campus and or just avail free internet access of some coffee shops. With such, AGSB must address this by providing more wi-fi spots within the campus as well as upgrading to a higher internet connection type.NU12 #12: Business opportunities you can think of. For the operator of taxis, this
will help them monitor the performance of their drivers and they can instruct
vacant taxis to go to prospective clients in an efficient system. 4
Philippine Taxis should have GPS
and Digital Maps
GPS technology is not as
expensive as it used to be. Nowadays it costs less than 10,000 pesos to install
one. This means wherever you are, you can see where you are on a digital map on
the dashboard.
I got this idea when I was going to A.Venue Makati for my entrep
class food trip. The taxi that I rode had a newbie driver. He didn’t even know how to get to EDSA from
Eastwood City!
Imagine my frustration when I
tell you that I also didn’t know where A.Venue was located and how to get
there.
So I took out my smartphone and using the map
and GPS was able to navigate to A.Venue.
Now imagine a customer who had no
smartphone. This would be a real hassle for the customer. That’s why I’m proposing
that all taxis have GPS installed in them.
This solves many problems aside
from the one I had above. Passengers sometimes complain that their cab drivers
are giving them the runaround and taking the longer route to earn more cash. If
we install GPS, then the customer would know the route the taxi is taking from
a macro view.
Another problem solved is when
your loved ones are waiting for you and worried sick for you because you haven’t
texted in the last 5 minutes. Well, GPS will enable them to view the taxi you
are riding and where you are by just accessing the internet.
This gives extra security because
the driver knows that other people are waiting for their passenger. Drivers
with ill intentions cannot take the risk because their prospective victim will
have a family who knows their taxi that their loved one took a ride in.

Pictures on Credit Cards
A big chunk of our population use
credit cards. They are already a part of everyday life because of the
convenience of not bringing large amounts of money when you shop and the
advantage of paying for expensive items on installment.
A credit card has made its users
more liquid.
There are also cards that offer
rebates for groceries, medicine, gasoline etc. These advantages are also a
reason why people use them.
One big issue with having credit
cards is the security. There are many security features on credit cards to
prevent different kinds of fraud. Others are standard operating procedures for
merchants to protect the users.
One security standard is that when
you purchase you should present an ID. This is a hassle for some because what
if you happen to forget your ID or maybe what happened with me is that my PRC
ID has a very faded picture of me. This prevented me from making the purchase
because the picture was not recognizable.
This brought me to think that
there should already be pictures of the user of these cards on the face of the
credit card. This would ease up transactions and make it more efficient.
I think the reason that they do
not do it is because it would be more expensive for the card company to
personalize the card not to mention the extra time needed to take a photo from
the customer. But I think if the extra effort would result in a better service,
then I am willing to wait. 3
NU12 #3 - J.P. Molina - Bright back up light
Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship
"New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."
Bright Back Light
It is a known fact to all drivers
that driving etiquette dictates that you switch bright head lights off when you
are on a 2 way street and there is a vehicle in front of you at night. Bright
lights can cause accidents because a driver temporarily has impaired vision.
Drivers when faced with a situation
where there is an incoming vehicle with bright headlights usually signal to the
opposing vehicle that they should turn off the bright light by blinking the
bright light himself. And when the opposing driver doesn’t stop, a driver
usually turns his bright lights on until the other driver succumbs to the
pressure.
That’s what I do!
So I noticed this when I was
driving and the vehicle behind me was on bright headlights. For me it was
dangerous because I could have an accident when I lose my sight temporarily at
night. So I wished that I had bright backlights in order to signal to the
driver behind me that he is bothering me just like what I would do if a vehicle
in front of me has bright headlights.
The vehicle behind me would have
no other recourse but to turn off his light.
Now this also solves another
problem of mine.
Aside from the unethical drivers
who turn bright lights behind, there was this instance when I was backing up at
night when a vehicle behind me backed up also. I noticed that the driver didn’t
know that I was backing up so I honked my horn. Because the horn is in front, I
think the driver didn’t notice me still so what I did was just to move forward
and give way. <blinking led lights? cum intermittent horn?> 3
This could’ve been avoided if I had
bright back lights because I could’ve just flashed the other driver so that he
would let me pass first since I was the one who first backed up.
Car manufacturers should consider
this because it could be an important tool in preventing accidents. Some
lawmakers could argue that it could cause more accidents but I firmly believe
that those things are still tools and that it depends on the user how he uses
it. 3
NU12 #2 Molina, Jose Paolo Sentrep - Reversible Pants
Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship
"New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."
Reversible Pants
80% of people I know use their
pants more than once before washing them. “Sayang sa laba” is a usual phrase
you would hear them say.
In one of my company conventions
which was a 3 day 2 night event. I noticed that many colleagues of mine wore
only 1 pair of pants for the 3 day event. Actually the reason I noticed is that
I was also guilty of wearing my jeans more than once.
Then it hit me that if there are
reversible jackets, then why shouldn’t there be reversible pants?
This solves at least 3 usual problems
that I usually encounter. One is already said earlier. During trips, I prefer
to travel light so having reversible pants would benefit me because the people
during the trip won’t notice that I’m just recycling my pants (unless my pants
stink).
Second is I have limited
wardrobe. People like me who rarely shop would automatically multiply their
wardrobe by just buying jeans that are reversible. I believe it would cost more but I am a
believer that if something can be used for a long period of time, then it is ok
to spend for a premium item.
Third is there are times that due
to fortuitous events, your clothes get dirty or ruined. For me, it is very
often that my dog gets excited when I go out and he just wants to hug me. The problem
is his paw prints would appear on my pants.
It is ok because you can easily
remove dry dust but what if it rained and the paw prints were muddy? This is
where reversible pants come in. you can just hide the stains for the meantime
before you can go home.
Clothing companies should recognize
this niche in the market. I believe that the cost may increase at least 50% more
but I believe that there is a definite demand for these things as long as the
marketing strategy is good. 4

NU12 #4 – New Processes at Work, Study – Lea Olegario
Our team delivers different offsite and onsite services to
customers depending on their requirements. Part of this will be the generation
of proposals from customer requests that we receive. Some proposals turn into
actual projects but almost half of it do not push through.
There is a weekly report generated by the team to show the
status of quotes for each month and it covers several years. We had a move to
eliminate those very old quotes we don’t hear from customers about. We did that
and during my meetings with the proposal analysts, we found out that there is
no follow-up done to the outstanding quotes and no one has that responsibility
at that time.
I suggested we created a follow-up process for the quotes to
pursue the project and also know if it will push through or not. I developed
this along with the proposal analysts in the team discussing every step of the
process, which they will be executing later on. We defined how long a quote can
exist until we mark it as not awarded. In this way, there will be no
outstanding quotes running for several years. Frequency of follow-ups was also
defined depending on the type and criticality of the projects.
With the process approved and welcomed by the team, we moved
to implement it and it has served to improve our monitoring of projects and
even intercept the possibility of losing some projects most especially if the issue
is with scheduling. We also had better understanding of the business and what
happens to the requests that did not push through as the customers responded to
the follow-ups.

NU12 #5 - Door Lock Manager
Smart phones are getting a lot more complex by the minute. Applications have enabled phones to maximize its potential. We have countless games, utilities, maps and gps and other apps never before imagined right at our fingertips. Furthermore, the wide access to the internet has made communication and information transmittance hassle-free. With the ever evolving technology available, people can limitlessly create useful applications for both entertainment and utility.
My idea is to create door locks designed for cars, home and office or commercial establishment wirelessly connected to a mobile app and an online account. Instead of having keys which people often lose and thieves always forge, door locks can be operated using your password protected mobile app and online account. You wont need to carry bulky keys in your bag or pocket since the mobile app and online account can be configured to store hundreds of doors and locks.
The most valuable feature of this application is the management of door locks. Sometimes, people either forget to lock their homes and cars or are unsure if they did so they go back to double check. With the application, you can check which doors are locked and which ones are open. With a touch of your finger on your smart phone, tablet or keyboard you can lock or unlock doors in your house and car. Your phone will also alarm you if someone unlocks the doors you locked.
In case you lose your phone, thieves cannot access the application since it is password protected. Furthermore, you can just log in to your online account and deactivate your phone's application. You can also operate and manage your door locks through your online account.
The internet has becoming more and more affordable and accessible. In the near future, we can expect everyone to have seamless access to the internet 24/7. 4

NU12 #11, Professionalism – New Work, Methods, Practices - Alvin Bilolo
There’s
a lot of new practices out there that we can apply in our work, but
only few entitles you to a value of professionalism. To give you an
example, in taxation, believe it or not it has been a practice to lower
the taxes being paid to the government by having bigger expense through
obtaining a lot of receipts (not literally related to the operation of
the business) as supporting documents. It is a practice but it doesn’t
adhere to the sworn value of professionalism. Our work, methods and
practices should therefore be of worthy of the value of professionalism.
As
an employee, I believe that I can enhance and be more efficient with my
current role by performing these new work/methods/practices:
· Giving it all to the fullest.
While we are staying within our office premises, we should give our
fullest to whatever process we are doing. For once, it will only be and
8-hour work. After our shift, NEVER think of your work! There’s still
tomorrow where you will give again your fullest!
· Thinking outside the box.
We must develop our minds to think beyond what we are doing. There’s
always a room for improvement. No matter how concrete the process is,
there will always be a room where we can enhance it.
· Positive perception at work. We
should never complain of our work. If it causes us so much trouble,
then we should quit and find another work of our interest. We must
always remember that it is us who apply for our current job. If we are
having trouble then and we do not like what we are doing, it is
ourselves too who causes us to experience it. Be positive and be more
productive!
· Believe in yourself. Never underestimate what you can do! The only person who will trust your capabilities until the end is you – yourself!
· Respect those who are in authority.
There are always blessings in submission. When we submit ourselves to
those who are in authority, to our superiors, we can find favor in their
sights and we can easily be trusted. 3

NU12 #12, Serendipity Walk: Ayala Avenue (Makati Central Business District) - Alvin Bilolo
I usually walk along Makati Central Business District since
my office is situated in this area. This time, I walk to observe all business
ideas that I can think of this place and here’s my thoughts:
- We can put vending machines of cigarettes, soft drinks and juice, coffee, light snacks along Ayala Avenue. This is to accommodate those employees who have a very short break and can’t take it to go to near convenience stores to choose snacks and buy cigarettes.
- We can put up reloading stations.
- Mini outlets of fast food chains to accommodate those who are in a rush.
- Lotto outlets.
- Bayad Centers.
- Mini food stalls such as fishballs, queck-queck, and the likes.
- Video Arcades for stress relief.
- Chair Massage.
- Shoe Repair Shop (including key duplicate, and umbrella repair shop) (Mr. Quickie)
- Green Tea business.
- Charging Station for Cellular Phones and tablets.
- Games and Music Installations.
- Outlets that buy used papers;
- Mini bookstore.
- Photo and File Printer
- Photo booth 3

NU12 #3 by E Uy Traffic and Parking: A Driver’s Nightmare
Traffic and Parking: A Driver's Nightmare
It is very stressful to drive around Metro Manila, especially if you are going to or passing by a Central Business District (CBD). Not only is the traffic paralyzing but finding a parking space in CBD's is like looking for a contact lens in the ocean.
Based on my careful observation, many people who use their car during weekdays and rush hours are alone in their car. Most of them are either on their way to or just came from work (you can see their corporate attires hanging on the windows of their car). People seldom practice carpooling. In Indonesia, driving a car alone during rush hour is prohibited to encourage carpooling. We do not have any laws or ordinances to encourage people to carpool. Riding a motorcycle instead might not be a good alternative due to high risk of getting into an accident plus the inconvenience of the hot weather and polluted air we have in the Metro. Owning and driving a car, then, is the most comfortable mode of transportation for those who can afford it. Below is a table summarizing the benefits and disadvantages of owning a car and a motorcycle: (1 being the lowest and 5 the highest; red indicates inferiority)

The One- Seater
Since both motorcycles and cars have their own advantages and disadvantages and many people here in Metro Manila use motorcycles and cars alone, it will be beneficial if a one-seater car will be introduced to the market. It will still have a proper seat, air conditioning and sound system. A decent luggage space which can also be converted into a small seat is available behind the driver's seat; it's a 1+1 seater car in this case. The same materials used in ultra-compact hatchback like the Mitsubishi Mirage will be used for the body of the car. A 400-600cc engine will be the power plant of the One-seater which will provide adequate power and low fuel consumption.
Upon my research, a one-seater concept has already been made into reality through the Carver One (http://www.examiner.com/article/world-s-coolest-car-the-carver-one). The concept was promising. However, it was marketed more as a luxury toy than a functional vehicle. It had a turbocharged engine and retailed for 30,000 euros, same price as a Mercedez Benz C–class. The Smart Car for Two, on the other hand, is still a wide vehicle when compared to the one-seater concept since the two passengers are seated side-by-side as opposed to the one-seater's motorcycle layout seats. What I am proposing is to strip its luxurious features out. Only basic features of a car are appropriate for the practical One-seater car; same features you will find in ultra-compact 5-seater hatchbacks like the Mitsubishi Mirage, Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Spark, Suzuki Alto and Chery QQ.
Retail prices for ultra-compact hatchbacks ranges from 379,000 to 600,000 depending on the variant. If the same materials are used, I believe it is safe to assume a SRP of 2/3 the price of ultra-compact hatchbacks or roughly around 250,000 pesos.
The One-seater will not only be marketed to car owners seeking smaller vehicle for easy parking and more practical option than full-sized cars but also to motorcycle owners who want to add security and comfort to their daily travelling needs. Here is table showing the benefits of all 3 types of vehicles: (1 being the lowest and 5 the highest)

With the practical one-seater, more parking and road spaces will be available in busy districts. Lower emissions, lower fuel consumption and lower motorcycle accident rate will also be evident.
