Idea Share, Nu Idea Share

There is actually a group named IdeaShare where they share ideas.  I concocted the word NuIdeaShare(added New - Nu) to promote the activity in entrep class where I ask them to submit new ideas weekly (this is graded) to be shared with me and the class.  This is quite challenging for most and quite a lot never manage to submit something that qualifies as new idea (some are copy and paste stuff from the computer).

The main goal of the IdeaShare group is to accelerate technological change. (vs closed architecture and patent protection).  It has been proven by history that sharing idea allows greater and faster change and at lower cost because of collaboration.  (beta vs VHS format in video players, microsoft vs. linux, firefox vs explorer).

Some book publishers allow other co authors (thanks to the web) to co author books.  Or even given away free books (minus many key pages) to stimulate idea sharing .  On the other hand, there are those who want to run their business using defensive strategies:  use of  IPO law, suing copiers for infringements, running the business from the courthouse rather than from the R & D labs.

What do you choose?

Creativity - Starting Point of Innovation

Our mind is the most powerful tool we can use for creativity. It is unlike computers and even more powerful than the best super computers:  consisting of billion neurons with trillions of connections and permutations.  Here are some  of the tips I have read regarding enchancing our creativity:

l.  Be a child again.  Live curious.  The Nat Geo channel keeps repeating this on their channel.  Question everything. Be interested in a lot of things around you.

2. Observe, observe, observe.

3.  Learn, learn, learn, from you experiences especially from the bad ones.  Bad experiences are great teachers. What piss you off give rise to new ideas.

4. Practice. exercise your mind by reading (this is even a preventive measure for Alzheimer disease). Read read read.

5.Exercise.  When you have difficulty in thinking, take a walk or jog.  Go to a gymn.  When you exercise, your body secretes endorphins which stimulate creative thinking.

6.  Brainstorm with a group. Many minds are better than one.

7. Travel.  You can learn so much from your travel.  You can benchmark from other places.  A lot.

8.  Get out of the box.  Learn from outside the experience and your comfort zone.  Learn from other industries

9.  Go to the web. There is so much to benchmark from the web.

l0.  Enrol in a night school.  Join a hobby group.  Join a web group
