Innovation is not unique to micro and small businesses. One such notable company is Lockheed which has the skunkworks. Large companies' budget is to sustain the existing products- but the tried and true. But in Lockheed, anything goes. They are separate unit and have produced notable, space age products and inventions.
Big structured companies usually hinder innovation and intrapreneurship. In J & J and 3m though, innovation is a desired activity and encouraged.
