Are Filipinos Behind in Innovation?

In most public fora, the answer is yes! But let us look at reality.  Many Filipinos are good in composing, entertainment, designing, etc.  Some of works of major architectural firms are subcontracted to cad firms in the Philippines.Filipino entertainers make good abroad in almost all hotels, cruise ships.  Many Filipinos make good in Silicon Valley.  Many consultants expatriates who helped boost the economy of neighboring Asean countries as Vietnam and Indonesia are from the Philippines. Most of great animators from the Philippines are now in China. There are many Filipino designers who make good abroad.

There are two stories I know:  Napocor, the generating company owned by the government wanted a solution for a problem who consulted an Italian firm who subcontracted this to a Filipino electrical engineer.  A golf course in the Philippines hired an American landscaping firm, who in turn subcontracted the work to a Filipina landscaper.

Maybe, the world or our countrymen are not aware of their accomplishments. (My on entrepreneurship and this blog is more read abroad than in the Philippines - how sad) It is time that prophets are known in their own countries!!

If you watch TV shows on entrepreneurship as Go Negosyo and Kabuhayang Swak na Swak or other TV news network, one will be amazed at the number of new ideas generated by Filipinos.

In my entrepreneurship class,  there are assignments on new ideas generations by group (worth 35 pts) and weekly individual new ideas report, I am truly amazed by amazing ideas from students.  Not bad for sometimes 8 week trimester, or l4 weeks in an elective entrepreneurship elective.  Topic for  new ideas include new product, new processes, new crime that has not been done before

Or what piss you off?  At the mall, in your neighborhood, at the school.  What piss you off call for solution, usually innovative and new.  You come up with new ideas/innovation.

A little more push and encouragement will bring innovation new idea generation in the Phil to the next level.

"Innovation is creating value from existing resources." "Entrepreneurship is creating something from practically nothing"
