There is no perfect product. The customers' want and need change frequently, capricious if you may. The customer is a constantly changing moving target. That changing need create dissatisfaction with the existing product and service and hence for a new product.
Thus a blockbuster today but has been a tired product tomorrow.
One solution of a new product is to fend off imitators. The best way to fight copycats is not in copyright/patent court battles but in r and d labs and design rooms. Make the present product obsolete as it is launched
