NEW BUSINESS IDEA
Creation of Music Videos for Unsigned Bands
Many aspiring musicians want to become professionals and be famous, but the competition is just too stiff. Talent scouts maybe at the wrong place at the wrong time, making discovery difficult. Furthermore, many producers are hesitant to invest in newcomers. The social network, MySpace, was somehow designed to promote these aspiring artists, but is not very popular in the Philippines. Furthermore, it became way less popular when Facebook arrived. YouTube is one of the video websites that has survived and grew bigger and stronger during the changing times, and can be used to help promote these aspiring artists' music and talents.
To help these musicians get discovered and have their big break, I have thought of a small company that puts their talent on display through the YouTube and Facebook. To do this, this company should be able to help them secure intellectual property rights to avoid any unlawful claims of original compositions from other artists. Next, the company would create simple music videos of their songs. The price and quality of the videos depend on their budget, but knowing that they are unsigned bands, it is safe to assume that their budget is limited, so the price would be generally less expensive. The company would also require the band to post several live performances so that talent scouts could watch them at their convenient time, without actually having to travel to the gig spot. This will also allow the scouts and/or producers to assess the bands' live performance and compare it to recordings.
Posting their videos on YouTube would allow them and their friends to "share" through Facebook, thus helping them become popular. Ratings and comments in the social networks will also help in assessing the artists' potential. 3
