Ideation on Issues of the Future of Megacities

The Ateneo Graduate School of Business Advantage

At the REE conference in Bangkok, we, a group of about 40 or so entrepreneurship education, mostly from Asia, were familiarized with a new  method of idea generation -  having a theme, this time on issues of the future of megacities.  It is a large scale thinking on what pisses you off, this time for the future and for the megacities.  (meglapolis)

Alstair Free and Dr. Peter Russo

The facilititators, Alstair Free of Belfast Ireland, and Dr. Peter Russo, gave post it to each of the tables in the conference, gave a topic for team members to generate ideas on.  Each team was assigned to come up with issues on a topic:    say poverty, landscaping, garden.  In our case it was mobility.   And the number of post its, the top three were chosen  (the most important, most impactful, top priority).

What came up in our list: commuting, automobile safety, immigration laws, train, air pollution, crimes on the street, accidents, building access, access between buildings, energy conservation, carbon emissions...

What were our top three:   pollution, automobile problems, energy

We can come up with REE projects on these issues, and they will be endless source of new ideas for research and collaboration.  (Relate this to crowd sourcing and website for new ideo, ideo.com

Focused theme on new ideas

How brilliant.  Very focused new idea generation and innovation.  Addressing a very real concern for the future.   And we know that is the very essence of innovation and entrepreneurship
