Movie Top Grosser Accused of Copying Costumes

The Ateneo Graduate School of Business Advantage

A top grosser, a comedy film featuring top rated comedian and comedienne is facing a lawsuit involving copying a design of costume by a sculptor artist.  The original work was originally designed for Lady Gaga.

The Pl0 million lawsuit covers infringement and the change in design which damaged the intellectual property rights of the designer. Incidentally, the complainant Filipino artist is named Lee Roy New.  Quite a coincidence of the blog and its title.

Ideas are not cheap;  they are expensive;   creative imitation is not cheap;  it is expensive.

What do you think of this spectacle?

Is the original designer right in filing the case?

Is the movie producer justified in copying the design or did he really copy?

What do you think?

Is this an area where PHIL are copy cats?

Is this all about money that since the film grossed P280 million  litigant want to have a share of the pie?
