Why floods will be a constant nagging problem at Cainta - Brookside Imelda Ave area

I am no  urban planner like Arch Jun Falafox,  nor a developer like Ayala.  But I developed some small subdivision and am a student of flood control.

I discussed the problem of flooding in Cainta some years back with a civil engineer in Ortigas (he is my uncle but migrated to US) He said that Ayala and Ortigas, when they develop, they deepen and widen the creeks from let us say 3 x 3 meters to  10 x 5 meters.  So there is no flooding in their subdivision.

However, in Cainta, you do not find creeks anymore.  The developers, instead of making water flow easing the flow of flood waters, choked the flood drains with narrow creeks;  the municipalities allowed informal settlers to put houses along river banks.  And the result, the outcome has been pretty consistent.    Flooding!

Is it time to deepen and widen the creeks?

Up to the Marcos high way, BF (was it as Marikina Mayor or MMDA chair) dug up huge drains along Marcos higgway to drain into Marikina river.  But would that be enough?  MMDA flood control under BF

More studies needed for the next 10 years?

And then our leadership.    Flood control project axed by Prez  The axed flood control project cost PHP l+b;  the damage is est. to be  PHP 11 b. And just as suddenly announced two flood control projects including retard....
