Further discussion on new marketing apps Proxiwoo, via smartphones (Android)
Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship
"New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."
In my class for entrep last year, there were discussion about apps use in grocery stores and supermarkets that can: tell what is on sales, pinpoint the location of gondola and how to get there, and other impt features of the store. And when I inquired if such a device exist, there was none.
Perry was able to come up with one app, but it was limited to a store or can not be installed at once in many places. One account can cover many companies, many branches, many location, and many products. Isnt that a wonderful marketing tool?
This can be applicable to Android phones.
Why Android phones only? The big market share of smartphones is with Android; Nokia, RIM's share are doubtful. However, i0s version is available.
Here comes invention by Perry Rico. (Perry Rico invented this and it took him one year to finish the apps) It comes perfectly close to that suggestion. It is now marketed under the name Proxiwoo.
I know for a fact that grow in IT in this decade will come from apps; the growth company that vied for honors with FB at Wall St at the time of the IPO were apps company. The next wave will be the apps; no longer the dot com company or telco company
We are lucky that Perry contacted me for this; we will be most happy to try this; to remarket this apps. I can see and agree that is disruptive. It will change the way marketers communicate to the prospects; the tarps, instore ads, newspaper and billboards will be rendered obsolete. The great outdoor advertising will have to rethink their business models.
I found out more about his partner Matt Shields, CIO of Virtus Ventures at twitter and following him. He likes to tweet on self development; just like most entrepreneurs.
Why:
l. The apps is geo specific; there is no spillage; it will throw messages to within l0 km radius; the apps can either be pop up when the phone user is within the 10 km radius, or acquired from the Google apps.
2. The apps will send messages who will be most qualified to buy; they possess android and smartphones which are status symbols of wealth and social status (SEC)
3. The price of subscription to this service can be much lower than expenses in tarps, billboards, promo girls/boys
4. It is like having thumbnail of webpages: or peek into the establishment. What are the offering: menu in the case of restaurant, price, ambiance, picture of the establishment etc.
According to Perry they are marketing this to P & G; however, I think they should market this Mcdonald, Walmart, Target etc....
We should be glad to try this out, do beta testing in the Phil, and remarket when this becomes widely used and popular.
