NU12 Idea:  Solar Powered Cooking Stove
ABS-CBN news via the program TV Patrol reported last July 09, 2012 that the Manila Electronic Co. (Meralco) is set to increase its rates due to the high generation rates last month. Prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) went up significantly forcing Meralco to increase its rates. According to WESM, prices rose because of series of power plant outages. This event affected end users or the consumers, making Filipinos suffer with continuing high power rates.
In line with this, the trend goes on to decrease usage of electricity or dependency to non-renewable sources by the consumers. Different sources of electricity had emerged just like geothermal plants, wind energy, hyrdro electricity and solar energy. Solar energy is the use of the radiant light and heat of the sun and stores and converts it to a usable form of energy with the use of the latest technology.
Having an entrepreneurial mindset, I proposed that we have a "solar powered cooking stove". With the prices of electricity and LPG going up, a solar powered cooking stove will greatly help conserve energy. It is very ideal to invest on this since it is a necessity in a household. Geographic location of the Philippines, its sunny and hot climate and the present technology for generation of solar energy makes it very doable. The plan is to put up solar panels and store it. This should be connected to a cooking stove, making it solar powered.<bitin.  Kulang ng how to do it?>
