Technology nowadays is so amazing it wasn't even dreamt of 2 decades ago. From the appearance (and demise) of the "ancient" pager or beeper, cellphones have been made from analog, to digital, from the size of a car battery to the smallest and thinnest configuration. These phones have evolved too from monochromatic, to color, to now AMOLED touch screens.
Also, the emergence of computers, from desk top PC's to laptops, to netbooks, to ultrabooks etc. And of course the ever popular tablets.
Nowadays, a young professional may have a notebook, a tablet, and probably two cellphones. A notebook is necessary for heavy office/ school work, a tablet for easy web surfing, games and relaxation, and two camera cellphones to access to networks. However, bringing all of these all the time is quite cumbersome.
Enter the "phablets" or the "big" phones (or small tablets?) that can probably replace a tablet and a phone. However, these gadgets still won't cut it for serious word processing, presentations and multi-media projects. A PC or laptop is still needed for this purpose.
So this idea for a new product is, to develop a gadget that has the power of a full PC, must be portable as cellphone, with the extra functionality of a tablet. A gadget to replace all of the above gadgets.
The recent development of the flexible amoled touchscreen technology can pave the way for this gadget. Imagine a phone with a 5" display. But if you want to view some videos, you can "unfold" the screen to reveal a 10" functional tablet. And of course for heavy work you can unfold a full sized keyboard as well, with the matching power to handle what a computer can do. And once all the work is done, it can be folded again into a phone! 4
