Concept:
Most buses in the US or in any other country, but the Philippines has its specific time of arrival and departure in particular stations.
The jeepneys here in our country is the most common and main means of transportation . I always have thought of having specific and particular JEEPNEY stations too with specific time schedules.
Implementation:
A policy from the DOTC will be passed that all public jeepneys in particular trips and areas will have to register and follow certain time schedules in particular stations. These will be assigned accordingly in cooperation and participation of the LGUs. A certain interval time will be planned for each JEEPNEY that will pass and wait in certain minutes in the stations. A trip ticket may be offered also that will serve for a month, week or whole day like the ones in the MRT/ LRT which the passenger can use. The latter will help save time away from paying and giving change in the jeepneys. There will be machineries in the jeeps where tickets will be swiped.
Benefits:
Through this new policy and process, there will be less traffic on the streets, more disciplined people being aware of the time, less accidents because jeepney drivers won't hurry and chase anymore for passengers and most of all less congestion on the streets. And if there will be more stations and jeepneys approved, more job opportunities for people will be available. In the future, a JEEPNEY lane would be a good innovation like that of the motorcycle lane in EDSA. We just have to improve and polish these ideas and possible policies for a more comfortable, happy, safe and peaceful LIFE in the Philippines.
