Unfortunately, some of those petty crimes end up in homicide or murder because most of the mobile phones owners refuse to give their mobile phones to the perpetrators. One of the improvements that we can do is when we report our stolen phone  to the telecom company, the company can set a setting where the mobile phone will self-destruct if someone tries to open it or use it. If someone tries to open or use the stolen mobile phone, it will close all applications and will render the phone useless to the user . The mobile phone can never be used again. By having this kind of setting, snatchers will be discouraged to steal because they can't use the phone anyway and they also won't be able to sell it.  <there is such as a system now.
