LLOYD TAN Fw: NU#8 NUTRITION AWARENESS

Subject: NU#8 NUTRITION AWARENESS

NU#8
Nutrition Awareness
NEW ATTITUDE

In this day and age, where being fit and eating healthy is the "in" thing to do, people go as far as starving themselves in order to reach their goals.

However, what most of these people do not know is that starving themselves can actually even hinder them more from being fit, as a person needs a minimum amount of nutrients in a day to be healthy. If a person does not eat often enough, his or her body may counteract this by slowing down one's metabolism to preserve its stored energy. Also, if a person does not eat sufficient protein, carbohydrates or fats, he or she will be actually be starving the body of its daily requirements.

Awareness needs to be created so that people know that eating fats is actually healthy for them, the same with carbohydrates. There is this stigma that carbohydrates makes one fat, but it is really the excessive storage of such that causes it. The body still needs carbohydrates as energy for daily routines.

By letting people know about these misconceptions, healthy living can be enjoyed by everyone, even those on diets.
