NU12 #2 by Kathleen Mamaradlo: Automated Vacuum Cleaner with Sensor

In today's fast-paced urban lifestyle, young professionals normally reside in condominiums near key cities to reduce travel time to and from work. Since these employees usually live alone or with house mates and no household help, weekends are mostly spent to fulfill domestic duties instead of being used as an opportunity to rest after a busy work week.
To address this problem, an automated vacuum cleaner would greatly help the residents clean their unit even if they're not at home. The device is operated with a rechargeable battery and is triangular in shape to be able to reach even the corners of the house. For the first usage, the owner will have to use it like a normal vacuum cleaner to clean the whole house and to allow the device to remember the route it should take once the auto-vacuum feature is activated. It can then be left on its own for the succeeding usages. Once it is turned on, it will move and vacuum the floor area based on the route that was stored in it. The built-in sensor will help detect if there is something that's about to block its way which would trigger it to change routes. It will also automatically stop once the whole unit is cleaned.
Apart from minimizing the chores to be done by the resident, it will also be very comforting for him to come home to a clean house after a hectic day at work.4
