Beware of new modus operandi for crimes in jeepneys

Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship "New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."

One of our companions in biking is a jeepney conductor for his father. He described to us the various new crimes in jeepneys.

l.  Dura sa buhok -  the robber will spit at the hair of the victim and then vigorously wipe off the sputum.  Naturally the victim will be distracted;   the spitter's companion will simultaneously divest the victim of his/her belongings.

2.  Tusok karayom -  this is more painful distraction.  The assailant brings a very sharp needle and then prick the victim.  After pricking, the assailant rubs the bleeding wound vigorously.  The pain of the needle will cause the victim to be distracted.  The companions of the robber then robs the victim while the latter minds the pain/prick.

Of course, the most effective is still the laglag barya he said.  It does not fail to distract the victims and the robbers have a grand time picking cellphones, wallets etc.

So the commuters are really at risk;  the drivers and companion can not do anything to announce to the passengers that there is a criminal on board;  otherwise they will be hurt or killed.

Beware too:  they do not attack with just 2 or three members.  The minimum number is 5.  So you could get knifed if you resist.  It is better to give than to receive.....

So Mr. PNP chief;   what happens to serve and protect....
