Why 3d modelling will play an important role in rapid urbanization of the future

Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship "New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."

3D modelling were used for visual impact before (to convince the public;  for marketing) of projects.  Now their use is increasing because it is easier for engineers and designers to store data, to simulate and anticipate problems.  3d modelling is a work in progress.

Please view an example viaduct collapse in an earthquake simulation (from You Tube)

What used to cost millions will be cheaper because of cloud computing and increasing familiarity with 3d.  With rapid urbanization is there a choice not to use 3d presentation?
