Larah Ritchie recommends making strategic planning session into a fun party.  Thus she employs sticky notes, markers and oversized paper to map out next year's strategy:

Tips:

l.  Clear your head;

2.  Picture clearly what to you want to accomplish in 2013 (your destination)

3. Prepare a detailed list of how to get there

4.   Make an imagery (mind maps by Buzan or Kaplan strategy maps)
