NU12- New Products, Products Improvements – Joseph Cunanan
Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship
"New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."
I’ve been working out for the past 3 years now and I’m pretty satisfied with the result. Although I’m not
that consistent in achieving the required number of hours/ days to be spent in the gym, hence there’s
some level of inconsistency in the way I tone and grow muscles.
One of the ways that most gym goers rely to is drinking supplements such as amino acids and whey
protein to build those muscles. It’s been said that when you take all these supplements, and couple
them with the right exercise, diet and lifestyle, you’re on your way to that amazing body you’ve been
dreaming of.
As a consumer, I feel like most of the whey protein in the market is sold with high prices and in large
packages. Most of these are intended for long time use. But how do we address the needs of those
people who have limited budget, or let’s say can’t instantaneously shell out a huge amount of money to
purchase that whey protein for a month or quarter use?
Here are my suggestions for product improvements:
- Offer whey protein in sachets for daily use. Instead of just coming up with bulk
packages, I think it also makes sense to offer them in sachets to address convenience
and short term uses for gym goers.
- This will help most gym goers be more flexible in terms of their budget. Not everyone
have the outright cash to be spent on that expensive purchase
- This will also be more convenient since the whey protein will be packed individually
per serving, then there’s no need for each gym goer to re-pack them at home.
I have roamed around and have not seen whey protein sold in sachets which I think can be a good
product improvement. It may be a simple idea, but it can address a lot of needs of these consumers.
