NU12 #8 – Panoramic Driver’s View by the Great White
Every car has a blind spot. It’s usually the frames and structure of the car body at the corners and doors of our car (see pictures). Those blind spots obstruct our view whenever we drive especially when making sharp turns, U-turns and parking our car which sometimes result in accidents. I’ve also noticed that as car designs evolve and modernize, the more blind spots they end up to have. I have driven a 1996 and 2008 Honda Civic and the driving experiences both are different worlds apart. The 2008 model has a more potent engine and better handling by all means but there are significantly more blind spots. I’ve even almost hit a pedestrian while I was making a turn because the frame of the windshield blocked my view.  Sports cars, also, have insanely limited view. Have you tried driving a Lamborghini? I haven’t but by the looks of it, it has probably only 10% visibility when you look to the back because of its state of the art design.

Sample Blind Spot:

My idea to have a better driving view, an almost seamless panoramic view of you surrounding, is to have custom sized LED panels installed on blind spots of the car. LED technology allows us to have ultra-thin TVs and I believe its price is already heading on a downward slope. A small robust video camera will be installed along the grills at the front and somewhere near the bumper or plate number at the back of the car to capture the real time activities in your surroundings. Only the exact happenings behind the blind spot will be projected on the customized LED. With the custom LED panels and video camera, you can now have a panoramic view of your surroundings and see what are happening behind those blind spots. This feature will certainly boost the car’s safety performance as it aims to minimize the blind spots
