NU12#1 New attitude, new paradigm (with revisions) - Nelle Canta
Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship
"New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."
New attitude, new paradigm.
Planet Earth has been existent
for almost 4.54 ± 0.05 billion years
based on evidence from radiometric age dating
of meteorite
material and is consistent with the ages of the oldest-known terrestrial and lunar
samples.
Whoa! Thanks to Wikipedia for that scientific explanation to get an accurate
age of our dear Earth. Imagine how old and how long this planet has survived? The
Earth has experienced a lot of wear and tear over the eons. Sadly, it has been
abused with different kinds of pollution, elements, legal and illegal
activities of humans which resulted to nature’s destruction. This made Mother
Earth in need of a “total overhaul”, or shall we say a rebirth.
But when did we start to get
cautious and concerned about the environment? After watching An Inconvenient
Truth? After we have experienced a massive destruction from killer typhoons
with major flooding and tsunamis? Well, this contributed a lot.
People are now starting to
seriously change their lifestyle and habits not just to preserve Mother Earth
but their health as well. The advertisements from the TV, Radio, Internet and
print ads about caring the environment have also become a major influence in
changing the people’s lifestyles. When you look around the malls, supermarkets,
retail shops, different establishments, a lot of it bears the label, go green,
green living or organic. This has also been an awareness campaign and an
advocacy to improve the quality of living. There are also shops specializing in
organic products and promotes green living. Entrepreneurs look for ways in
making their products to be earth-friendly and contain natural ingredients that
will not harm Mother Earth. Establishments are now doing away with the use of
plastic bags and now encouraging the shoppers to bring their own bags. This
help eliminates the production of plastics which can be harmful to our environment.
Organic ingredients are present
in most of the “consumable” products being offered for green living. Food,
Drinks, Make-up, cleansers, lotions, powders, soaps, beauty products and the
list goes on. Even some shirts and underwear are made of organic materials.
Organic stuffs are now becoming a “marketing ingredient” to the consumers who
are into healthy and green living.
Green living is the new attitude
of this era. The world is getting better as humans are getting smarter and
cautious in taking care of the environment.
It doesn’t stop from being
organic. Green living is an attitude. A new attitude that we practice as the
Earth continues to recover. Green living also applies in the materials that we
choose for our homes. Flourescent lamps instead of light bulbs, more windows so
we could use sky light so less electricity for the light during the day. Like how Ayala Land builds its homes.
Sustainable living attributes in the materials that they use and the community
that they build. We should apply these ideas.
