NU 12-Tighter security at the Mall – Joseph Cunanan

Ateneo Innovation and Entrepreneurship "New ideas create more and better new products and services; create more wealth."

What pisses me off at the mall is the level of security the moment you enter the mall premises. There
are occasions when security guards don’t really check my bag if I’m fully dressed up. But if I’m wearing
casual clothes, that’s when they mostly spend time checking me, including my bag, my shirt and my
pants.

I just feel like there’s some level of inconsistency in the way security is executed at the malls nowadays.
And anyone can just fully dress up, pretend to be someone from the upper class, but then be able to
bring in bombs or guns and post threat inside the mall premises.

I think all malls must have a standardized protocol in demonstrating security in these public
establishments. A more advanced fire arm detector is best, especially those which are being used in the
airport. This equipment/machine can just let mall goers enter thru a system, where their bags, belonging
and even themselves are fully scanned before reaching the main entrance of the mall. This way, they
can really filter and check the people that come & go, and make the entrance time faster mall goers.

A lot of casualties have been reported in the past where in some stores have been robbed, and even a
teenager killed someone thru a gun shot. All of these could have been prevented if a stricter security has
been placed.3
